I have seen many posts here and there regarding Connies. The impression that I get is that they arereally good smokes for the money.

Recently I received an email with a link to this sale:

Connies @ JR's Cigars

So if I were wanting to give Connies a try does this look like the time to do it?

Well, according to the email (I got the same one) these aren't even the normal seconds that make up the Connie line. Allegedly (and you never know with Lew) these are firsts of a line that was just overproduced.

So, if it was something you were thinking about trying to begin with, I would suggest going for it. I mean, even with shipping, it's about $1 a stick. Probably can't go wrong, IMO.

Personally I've enjoyed all the connies I've tried, but that's just me.

I was about to post that link. If you are looking for a really solid yard-gar or golf-gar, chances are, these are as good a buy as you are likely to see. If you like Oscuro wrapped sticks, and double corona size...I'd jump on a few boxes.
Honestly, if I had any available room, I might jump on these for end of a day of hiking cigars.

The connies are in the running for the best $1 cigar out there IMHO

Like everybody says, put 3 - 6 mos in the coolidor on them and you've got a great stick. Sirius Joe gave me a connie #9 that had sat for about 5 months. It was fantastic.

OK I pulled the trigger. If they suck . . . everyone who recommended them will get them in a bomb!

Doesn't look like a sale price, Jason. I keep a couple of bundles of #9 and #73 on hand. The DO tend to be bitter until they've had a few months on them. Keep them a year and they really start to get good.

Hmm.................I see a lot of familiar faces posting in this thread.

LMAO :D

Does anyone have experience with this connie.......it is the #279......at least that's what they said when I ordered them.

Edited cause I just figured out what Bruce meant by DO......sorry Bruce................

I hit this one also. I've managed to have quite a bit of luck with Connies over the years. All and all they are more in the win column than the loose. For the price they are much better than Quorums

Oh and before anyone gets cute....yes they are better than Grape White Owls

I bought a bundle of those myself. I've had good luck with the #9's. I'll be interested to see how these do. Definitely let 'em sit in the Humi for a while though.

:)

Well I will probably smoke one right away just . .. well because I just can't when I get something new. But will definately let them sit after that and see what happens.

Thanks for all the info folks.

You said something cool and I missed it? Sheeit!

Well I received my package today with the Connies. Construction and aroma are fine. However, the link describes them as follows:

A dark Oscuro cigar with a San Augustin Valley Habano wrapper.

These are far from "dark" and are more of a coffee with cream color. Not as light as a natural but closer to natural than a maduro by far. Not that it really a big deal but I tend to lean more to the darker cigars and was expecting a darker cigar because of the description.

I will be calling JR and lodging a minor complaint.

I too got some of these to give em a shot. Mainly for golf and other people who want a cigar and dont know anything about them. Thanks for the link

I received mine as well. As a matter of fact I am smoking one right now. These are pretty much the same quality, color, and construction I have come to expect from Connies. Now I will agree that they are much lighter than what I expected them to be with a description such as "Oscuro".

The flavor is that of very mild milky hot cocoa and apple wood smoke. Not a bad yardgar at all. I would say give them a little adjustment time and just smoke them Definately a cigar you can confidently give to a friend that "kind of likes cigars".
