My wife and I just moved away from CO a little over a year ago, before I was bitten by the cigar bug, so I had never actually attempted to buy a cigar there. Last week we were back visiting some old freinds and neighbors, and I stopped by this new mega-liquor and wine store in Castle Rock, with the worst name in the universe, called Bubbles. I had heard they had a good cigar selection, so I wanted to check it out.

And would you believe it, they had a half box of Opus X Chateue (sp?) sitting there on the shelf! Here's the catch, $38.99 each. :0

I talked to one of the managers, and he explained how bad the tobacco taxes were in CO, hence the jacked up prices. They had a bunch of other decent cigars there too, but there was no way I was going to pay those prices, no matter how hard Opus are to get.

So for those of you from CO, I'm sorry that your local prices are so bad, hopefully you can get your good cigars via trades or on the internet.

I lived there a few years back and I am going there next week on vacation. Trust me I am going to be packing a few for the trip. I have paid those prices before. What kind of a name is Bubbles!!!! LOL

Im not from CO, but from WY and i regularly buy cigars from down in CO....their prices arent as bad as you describe, at least not in the Ft Collins or Denver area...theres a cigar/pipe only shop in Ft Collins, Edwards Pipe and Tobacco i think is the name of it that has a FANTASTIC selection of everything from cheapies to some real high dollar stuff....one of the best cigar stores ive ever been too since they renovated it...very classy store with alot to offer. Their prices are in line with most of the stuff you find on the internet.

You think its bad in CO, try Rhode Island or Jersey...they have the highest tobacco tax rates in the country!!
