Yet another review long overdue. This again was a gift from a great BOTL (thanks alexgtp!)
Again, by process of elimination, I am 99% sure this was a Siglo II. The paper I wrote my notes on got separated from the paper where I wrote down the size, so I had to do process of elimination again.
This was my first Cohiba ISOM.
Clipped this cigar, and the pre-light draw was great. Fairly oily and nice wrapper. Lit with matches, which (as usual) leads to a sort of rocky start as far as even burn goes. This evened out well though, and burned great all the way down. This is one of only a very few ISOMs I've had the pleasure of smoking. The aroma was great! Had an almost earthy/leathery taste to it? Not really sure, I have a hard time putting a name with the flavors I taste. Very different overall flavor profile than any of the other cigars I smoke on a regular basis. It started out medium-bodied then turned more to the full side as I continued to smoke it. Very surprised about the volume of smoke this realatively small cigar put out. The last 2" of this cigar were to die for! Can't place the flavors but the aroma was stunning and the taste was even better. Totally burnt my fingers on this cigar, and even almost burnt my lips! Don't think I've ever smoked a cigar that far down before. That could be for a couple of reasons though: even the cigars that are incredible that I normally get to smoke are all much easier to come by than ISOMs (at least to this newbie they are) so the rare occasion that I get to smoke a cuban Cohiba could have had a little bit to do with why I took it all the way down. If not that, it was just becuase it tasted so damn good and so different than the cigars I'm used to smoking. Either way, it was an awesome cigar and I'm afraid that my cigar thoughts have recently turned toward scoping out sources for sampling different ISOMs.
Overall, I would give this cigar an 89. Can't wait to smoke another one!
Edited to ask this question:
I just did a search (unfortunately not before I posted) and saw that about a year ago, someone else did a review of this cigar. Is it better to start a new post for my review, or should I have just added onto the existing one? What to do???
