As I have previously mentioned, I enjoy a Java Robusto and a good cup of coffee on a Sunday morning. I usually drink a stronger brew, mainly a darker roast from my local market. But I am always looking for a good coffee.

What coffees have you guys tried and enjoyed and what are your favorites sticks that go along with that coffee?

Talk to Mr. Jerry - the freakin' crack dealer of coffee... Got me hooked on that Killer Beans line of coffees he throws up on special every so often... Most would agree the Caribbean Cutthroat is the best - I would say Brazilian Bombshell and Nicaraguan Knifefight are both right up there as well.

And if you get a chance - you really have to try his Doi Chang coffee (if he's got any - he keeps selling out right away) - incredibly complex, smooth, rich organic coffee from a small village in Thailand. Just a tad bit expensive, but one of the best coffees I've ever had the pleasure of brewing (my Sunday morning, relax and enjoy kinda coffee).

The real 'mocha java' is a good staple.

I enjoy Kona Fancy and Jamaican Blue Mtn.!

Recently I had a chance to try some home roasted coffee....well - I'm now looking for my own roaster!

Yeah, I'll have to second this. I almost lost my mind when they said they had some Blue Mountain grown in Hawaii, the two places that produce my favorite coffees. Thank God when I clicked on the link, it seemed that they didn't have any more.

Interesting sidebar though, who knew that Moki grew coffee? According to Sweet Maria, he has his own farm! :laugh:

I've not tried Mr.Jerry's stuff, but I am a Starbucks fan..any of their bold roasts are good for a nice maduro. Any LGC maduro, Padron Anniv, or even a nice BBF have been my standard combo's.

I'm also a firm believerof Mr. Jerry's Killer Beans. For breakfast, try a pot of Venezuelan Vendetta and fire up an AVO# 2. A pair that will always beat 3 of a kind....... :) :thumbs: :cool:
 
I enjoy a cup or six from a local place called Alakef. I can get it at the grocery here, but you can order online. The regular breakfast blend is really good but I've not had a bad cup of any of the blends I've tried.

I used to get Gevalia and enjoyed it quite a bit, but this is less expensive overall and much better.

For a national brand I like the Dunkin' Donuts coffee. It's hard to find up here now. The only place that carried it no longer does.

I've not had Killer Beans yet.

It seems to me that any decent cigar is made better with a good cup of coffee.
 
Mr J's "Nicaraguan Knife Fight" is one of my favorite blends. Favorite AM cigars (today) in no particular order are:

- Padron '64 Principe
- Cohiba Siglo I
- LaLuna Serie R Colada
- Tat. "Bombazo"

One of the things I look forward to all week is Sunday AM. My dear wife goes into work very early, so it's me and four little dogs, on the deck, watching the sun come up with a good fresh cup of coffee and a wonderful smoke, listening to the neighborhood wake up and start into Sunday. A really quiet, special time...... :cool:

I haven't tried the Killer Beans yet. I'm afraid of opening that door....

I usually buy my coffee at Trader Joes (are they a national chain?) and love many of their dark roasts. The 'Bay Blend' is our everyday brew, and the 'Double Dark,' 'Volcano,' and 'Dark Sumatra' are other favorites.

I like the low-acid and less caffeine in the dark roasts. I can drink more that way ;)

I find Padron '64s to be some of the best smokes to pair with coffee, though really I don't ever think I've smoked a cigar that didn't go with a good cuppa...

Home-roasting is something I look forward to getting into when I've got the room. One-bedroom apartments are not conducive to Hobbies ;)

It's always amazing how those times can be BBS. I do the same thing here on the beach, watching the sun come up over the Atlantic, or whereever I may happen to be at.

As for the coffee...well, as with some other threads here, I typically prefer cuban cafe. I posted a recipie for what I make here, along with some recommendations for coffee:

Oh - my favorite smoke with coffee: ANY!

But I really enjoy smaller Cuaba's, Partagas or a nice Trini!

Mainly something with a little 'spice'!
 
Thanks guys. I emailed Jerry and checked out the sight as well.

One comment - I have tried Trader Joe coffees and always found them to be too light for my taste. Event he more bolder ones are a bit too blah for me. But the info is greatly appreciated.

BTW - I had my first Pepin (blue label) last night. Mighty yummy!
