Hey all,
Hoping some of the more experienced smokers can help me out. My first child (a baby girl) which we'll be naming Olivia is due in January. I'm going to go with a box of Oliva V's to pass out to the friends due to the similarity in the names. However what I'm looking for is a a non CC that will age well for 18 years. I'm either going to buy 2 sticks (one for the birth and one for the 18th birthday) or a box and smoke one a year. I'm willing to spend the same on a box or two cigars however the budget is $250-$300. What I wasn't able to find after doing a search was a recommendation that fell within my taste. I've tried quite a few brands but always come back to something from Fuente. Some examples of my favorites have ranged from the Opus X Robusto to the Hemingway Classic. Can anyone give me a recommendation of a A.F. cigar that would age well for 18 years? Thanks for helping a noobie.

Why not a box of Opus X Robos then? If they serve you well now, chances are you'll still like them in a few years.

ETA: Congratulations!

Yeah, what the Souldoggie said. They should age nicely. Congratualtions on becoming a father. It is the greatest thing in the world.

I think a box of Opus X Robos will cost a bit more then $300...

How about a box of Hemmi Maduros? They age well, and won't break the bank...

Whoops, missed that. Personally, a box of My Fathers seems to make the most sense to.me for this. If he ABSOLITELY has to have AF, a box of Anejo robos will do the jorb.

Very few, if any NC cigars age well to 18 yrs. I'm afraid a CC is the only way to go.

Doc.

Why is that? I'm not suggesting you're wrong, but I haven't seen that particular assertion before and would like more details about the differences between Cuban and NC tobaccos.

Most if not all NC high end cigars have Age on them already, ISOMS typically don't. 18years is along time for a cigar to age and I would assume that the typical NC would be well past its prime.

Thanks for all the replys and well wishes. I'll give the My Fathers a try next time I'm in my B&M and go from there. Thanks again.
