Cigars for "in country" soldiers.

I am not sure how all of this might work, but I am willing to do the due diligence and put in the effort to make it happen if there is enough interest.

I know that cigars is one of the most requested things by soldiers who are "in country" meaning they are deployed to a hostile environment. I also know that if I were in that position, the ability to forget about life for a while, with my brothers and sisters and a good cigar, would mean a lot to me.

I'd like to know how many people would be interested in committing to provide a few sticks on a routine basis, to be sent to soldiers who are "in country".

If there is enough interest, I will start researching the logistics.
 
I'm in. You may wanna reach out to @Brickhouse to see if he knows of a group(personally) that we can send them to directly. While I'm not opposed to any random group, it'd be sweet if we had some attachment to them. Just a thought. Great idea, IMO. Some cigar shops also do this.

I know this is what I’m they do, I am not sure about the hostile environment part. Maybe reach out to them. They are really nice guys. They collect sticks and donations (to cover shipping)
 
At the risk of being considered a bigger a-hole than normal, I'm gonna offer one idea I'd like us to consider. And since this is NOT my original idea, my idea truly means jack squat. So, here goes.

I'm a "local guy" as it pertains to donations etc. I like to know where my donation is going, and to whom and how they are using it. It "The Man" is gonna take the largest cut, well, phuk em! I'm going down the street. I want "The Man" to get nothing but the burnt matches and the worker bees to enjoy the spoils. If anything is left, they can kick it up to "The Man".

That being said, I'm not disparaging the work of "Cigars for Warriors", I'd just like us to find that small group of misfits out there in the middle of shit, that need a break but ain't nobody thought of them. Savvy?

I've been banished before for my way of thinking. I'll gladly step aside and let this proceed w/o me. No worries as I know I'm not the only guy here that is an A-hole!!!!! (well, someone at least spoke for him that he isn't one!) :cool:

I think its a great idea, with me not ever being in the military I don't know what's possible and what's not. If we can get that together I'd help,

Somehow I feel my name being called?

From one a-hole to another, this is basically what I had in mind.

Finding a way to show the ultimate appreciation for the guys/girls who put themselves in the ultimate Danger.

It might be a task that is too big to accomplish logistically, but I think it's worth a try?

Shit no it ain't. I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy in Kansas. I can get it done. (cue groundhog day). Really though, I think we can find a group of misfits in need of a burner. C'mon fellas, let's do it.

Floyd, do you have any contacts with AD folks who have units deployed downrange? I'd think getting a name and then going from there would be a start. Maybe have some unit leadership reach out laterally to counterparts in the AOR and let them know what the idea is and if there is an address that these can be sent to. I know that the old "Any Soldier" thing has been largely done away with for security reasons, so a personal contact would be the way to go for something small time like this.

I do something locally for CFW. And yes, it's never enough to satisfy demand.. especially if rank is pulled on who gets what! 🤣

A recent inquiry I made was to see about also getting some into Ukraine.

More stingers, javs, ammo, etc is needed first of course.. but as this thing drags on.. a great respite and stress-reliever can be had from having what we call "sticks on the ground".

If anyone knows how to help make that happen, that would be something I'd put a few boxes toward.
 
Hopefully Wyatt @Brickhouse can chime in. I will start to do some research to see if Cigars For Warriors is the same thing.

I think it would be cool to have CigarPass known by soldiers.
