For everyones info.
I have recieved a couple emails ads from cigar5packs.com, so maybe others have recieved them too. Their specials seemed to be very good (some really great prices, almost too good to be true). Although they claim to be a member of bbbonline, it appears like they really are not.

Below is the info I got from bbb in Reno.

My Question to bbb in Reno

Hello,
I have a question / info for you re: cigar5packs.com aka Cigar5Packs Direct marketing Services, 4824 Longley Lane, Reno, NV 89502

On their website www.cigar5packs.com on the Privacy/Security page, they list themselves as a bbbonline member, yet I can not find them listed anywhere on your website or the bbbonline website.

Can you tell me if they are or are not a member of bbb? "

bbb Reno's response

Bruce,
No this company is not a member that I can find with the BBB of Nothern Nevada . I found that the address listed belongs to a company named Rapid Freight Inc. according to our files. I am still looking this over and will be handing it over to our CEO on Monday first thing.
I f you have any other questions please let me know.
Thank you for letting us know about this.

Subject: Misuse of BBBOnLine Seals Seals

Hello,
I have a question / possible misuse of BBBOnline membership.

cigar5packs.com claims to be a BBBOnline member (The Privacy / Secerity Page on their website),
http://cigar5packs.com/index.cfm?action=pr...D39610306AE555F

yet I do not find them listed anywhere on your site. The list their location as Reno, NV.

Are they really a member?
Hope to hear from you,
Thanks
Bruce

Thank you for your message to BBBOnLine. After a review of the said site and seal, it does appear that this company is indeed misrepresenting themselves as participants in BBBOnLine. We consider such displays a trademark violation and will actively pursue these issues. Thank you for notifying us about this particular company. You are a valuable part of keeping the BBBOnLine Seal virile. This email will be forwarded to our trademark legal specialist to investigate.

With Best Regards,

Jon R.

You are correct that we are not a member of BBBonline and we have removed this statement from our site. Our webmaster did unintentionally place this un our privacy area. He was working on a similar privacy statement for a different company and mixed up this fact. I apologize if this has mislead you in any way.

Thank you

Yes, thanks for responding.

Not sure if this is the right forum, but with new cigar sites coming up all the time (some new, some just new to me), without some sort of reliabilty seal (biz rate, BBB etc) how do the new e tailers expect us to trust our credit cards with them?

I don't buy from them or I am at least very careful and try to check them out. I have had many great experiences with etailers (printer ink, printers, cigars), and saved alot of money. All of them had a history I could check out.

There are alot of good cigar sites, so I need a good reason to buy from a new business without some sort of assurance that I am dealing with a reputable company, (I'm not saying you are not reputable).

You are absolutely correct and if i was you i would do the same thing. You shouldn't just give your credit card info to just anyone. But there are more ways of checking out a business than just looking for a seal on the website. Check for posted phone numbers, you know how many times i have been ready to purchase items on the net only to find out that the company I am about to buy from did not even post a contact phone number. that makes me very weary, why would they be afraid to post a phone number if they are legit? You have to feel secure with the company before you make the purchase or it's just not worth it. Even if the prices are much better than others. Feel free to check into us as much as you like, we post our contact phone numbers, email addresses and physical address. I am actually glad you found that discrpency on our site with the BBBonline. We are not here to pull the wool over your eyes, if it's BS and it's on my website, I want it off.
So thanks for the help.

cugar5packs (and all),

I get the email updates and went ahead and peeled off $ 45.95 from my cyber bankroll (CC). I'll let you know how it turns out.

For your info this is the offer I inked on:

http://www.cigar5packs.com/specials/index....3&action=cintro

I thought it looked interesting, AND I'm trying to diversify my LGC, and cigar.com brand dominated humis. Probably not a big step, but a step none-the-less.

Let me know if you guys think this is a decent offer, and I'll let you know what I think when I get them in the mail (3 business days - probably TUES or WED next week > 23rd or 24th).

I'm not an experienced reviewer, but I'll do my best.

(edited in 03-22)

cigar5packs.com sent me an email saying they shipped my order that evening (Fri 03/19) with a UPS tracking number. I'm looking forward to the package coming to the front door. I'll lt you know when I get them.

M. Gipson :)

I received my cigar5pack order Monday afternoon.

I'm going to start a thread in the lobby.
