2.  What else would you recommend me getting with my 37 bucks (I don't want to spend any more than that).  I do want another torch, but one that is reliable (if one exists).

I found one of these, on the ground a few months ago coming out of a cigar store. I just bought another one for $8. It holds a ton of butane and works everytime. I've had many colibris and they all suck! This is the best lighter for the money IMHO. Very reliable.

LOL, I started using this lighter a year ago and love it.
It has three burners and will light a cigar in a hurricane.

Ok, a couple of you vouch for these torches (and they're cheap so I can buy a couple and have a little cash left over - I'm sold!). However, what is the name of them - where can I find them? Any info you can pass along to help in my search would be most helpful :)

Now I just need to contact cigarbid and have them cancel my order for the colibri replacement.

Here is a link to find them on-line:

WOW, talk about fast service!!!

Thanks for the link; I think I'll go ahead and order a couple right now!

Ok, just ordered a couple! Question for ya guys... does it really matter what kind of butane fuel you use in these? Colibri lighters make it sound like it's critical (but that sounds pretty darn similar to what printer manufacturers tell ya' about using their ink). I still have a couple bottles of Colibri fuel and I have some generic butane fuel that I picked up from Wal-mart a few months ago. I wouldn't think there should be any issue with using either fuel, correct?

I just use the cheap stuff with this lighter and have not had any issues.

It's been my experience that using triple refined butane instead of the cheap stuff helps to keep it from getting clogged up. After a while it gets inconsistent and can muck things up. It's kinda like putting lesser quality gas in your car. After a while the injectors are gonne get crud built up and your gonna have problems.

Makes sense to me, and that sounds good in theory, but does it REALLY make a difference? Many on this board have had bad luck with their Colibri lighters (many which have stated that they've only used Colbri fuel) and still had problems. I wonder if it really makes that much of a difference. I think the approach that I'll take is to just buy cheapos (like the two that I bought this afternoon). That way, when they die, no biggie, just replace them for 10 bucks. What's hard to swallow is when a $40 or $50 lighter dies; replacing that is another story (which is why I'm going to stay away from Colibri).

Well for as long as it'll last you it probly wouldnt make any difference what type of fuel you put in it. I would probly just put the cheap stuff in it. I think when it comes down to it...you can get by on the cheap fuel. If it were a high quality lighter you might be able to tell the difference between high quality fuel and lower quality fuel, but on a cheaper lighter your almost better to just use cheaper fuel. Although it couldnt hurt to use triple refined, it's probly not gonna make a noticeable difference when your using a cheaper lighter. (for that matter Im not sure it would make a noticeable difference on a high end lighter either)
