CPFFL 2004

It's that time of year again. Time for me take everyones cigars.LMAO But seriously, this is just a early inquiry on who is interested in playing this year. This will be the 3rd year of the league and I'm sure many are looking forward to another fun filled season of loosing their cigars.LOL. :sign: Please post if you're interest. If you've never been in this league, feel free to search past year threads to get an idea of how things work. I will be posting the 2004 layout in the near the future.

Motions on the table from last year for consideration:

(1) Live Draft instead of Auto-draft?

We would really like to do a Live Draft this season. Please let me know if you could commit to a Live Draft. Date is not yet set...but it will be an evening time and take a couple hours to do. The sooner we can decide on this...the better our time slot opportunities are.

(2) Individual Defense instead of Team Defense?

ID is far more interesting than than TD, but it has been my experience over the years that the time and knowledge commitment are much more. ID is usually used with more of a "hardcore" group of FFL players, but you tell me what you want. I don't want to assume your FFL preference.

(3) Prize structure?

Year 1 we all submitted 5 sticks as an entry fee. It worked out "ok". Problems include debate on quality..ect...ect. One mans premium is another mans dog-rocket sort of thing.

Year 2 we all gave $35 entry fee and several boxes were ordered from a reliable price friendly source. I beleive the stick selection was voted on. This seemed to work out really well. Better of the two options IMHO.

**IMPORTANT INFO**

Whether you're a seasoned fantasy player or this is your first go around, please understand that I run this league. I am the commissioner. While we may vote and take a league consensus on "pre-season" issues. Once the league is up and running it is not a democracy. My decisions are the end all to be all on any issue that arise throught the course of the season. You need to join this league with a level of trust in me to be fair and non-partial. If you can't...than don't join. I've ran and played in several leagues a year for over 10 years. This is the best way and only way to run a league, period.

Once the league is setup....READ THE RULES. Know the rules, live the rules, and breath the rules. If everyone does this there is less chance of an issue arising. It's your responsibility to know the rules.

Realize that NOT EVERY situation can ever possibly be covered in a list of generic rules. It is with these issues if needed, I will make the call.

Think fair, play fair and there will be less need for the above.

With all that said. We really don't experience to many problems in this league. keep the above in mind and we will continue that trend. :)

Ok...who's in?

The KING and reigning CHAMPEEN is in.

I vote it be left same as last year. Too time consuming with the live draft and team "D".

hello,

NA

I vote for both the live draft and IDP's. Much more fun that way. If anyone can't make the live draft you can still order your players for selection exactly as you would if there was no live draft. So to me there is no reason to abandon the fun the live action provides for those that can do it. Just my view of course.

Thanks for putting this together again Jeff

Edit:

To clarify my positions -

1) Live Draft YES!

2) IDP's YES!

3) $35 Entry YES!

I'd be up to the challenge if I'm allowed to play. Thanks.

Brandon

I'm IN! I haven't had the chance to play with a group of people that I actually know since about 2001. Usually I do the autodraft, but am open to whatever the consensus leads to. I'm also more inclined to go with a team defense rather than take the extra effort to guess which players wont be hurt 10 weeks from now, etc......

Thanks for putting together this league.

Pm sent shortly.

Motown, home of the ever improving LIONS!

I'm in again for sure.

As for the issues at hand.

1. Live Draft. Definitely. It sucks watching a computer give you players you may or may not want.

2. Team Defense. I don't know if I can devote the time needed to research individuals.

3. I thought the prizes worked out fine last year using the entry fee. I believe it to be the easiest, fairest option.

And as for this not being a democracy, can we be a cult then? I'm not drinking any kool-aid though. Don't get any ideas.

I guess I didnt vote.

Live draft. Entry fee sounds fine. Every league I've ever been in has used team defense. I think seperate D players might be too complicated.

I'm definately interested......

Live Draft
Team Defense
$35 entry fee

I couldn't have said it better myself :D

I am in again this year. Live draft, team defense, and $35 fee is my vote.

I'm in baby, just say when!!!

Live Draft, Yes :)
Stick with Team Defense ???
Asking price looks great :)

I would be interested if you all would have me. I know I am new here, but I am a dedicated ff fan, I have played in a couple leagues every year for the past 10 years. You can count on me to stay active wil or lose. Barks.

Let me know when and where......

Live or Auto...

Team defense....

Why not $50 entry? If it will up the amount of payouts I say raise the entry. The more people in contention for a payout at the end keeps people in the game.

I'm in if there's space.

Live draft is best, but be clear on what time zone it is based on so I can compute.
(When will the draft list be available and where?)

Individual D sounds VEEERRRRYYYYY tough, but am willing to try (the only real benefit to this I see is punt returners - I know, I know, picks, fumbles, sacks and stuff. But punt returners are specialists).

$35 - $50 sounds cool.

absolute authority once the season starts is the only way to go.

I've participated for about 5 years. Won twice, and placed in the top 5 the other 3 times.

Let's just hope it doesn't turn out like the stocks thing did.

Votes seem to be(missing a few votes):

Live Draft: 10

Auto Draft: 1

Either Draft: 2

Team Defense: 9

Individual: 4

So it looks like we have LIVE DRAFT and TEAM DEFENSE.

Cool? :)

Draft time of Friday Aug 27th at 10:00pm(eastern) ok with everyone?

Wow, that draft time would work perfectly for me. I hope it does for a lot of others as well.
