Howdy gang,
My first post on this wonderful site! :sign: kudos to you all. What a wonderfully helpful site this has been to me!
OK, I have purchased a Trinidad display humidor (holds around 300 to 400 cigars) that was distributed by Altadis USA numerous years ago. (picture forthcoming).
On the back of the model there is a trap door and compartment that fits the Cigar Oasis perfectly.
I too was having a problem with the unit not automatically shutting off when a certain RH was reached. What I did was:
#1 wait until my humidor got to 70%.
#2 Once there I turned the Cigar Oasis rheostat control on the power box lower until it went off.
#3 With smaller turns, I moved the rheostat control until I heard the unit go on, and repeated step #2; in so doing I tried to find that delicate point whereby the unit would turn on as soon as the humidor went below the 70% RH mark.
After a while I stood by waiting to hear if the Oasis unit would power on. Only a couple of times did I hear it turn on, and then almost immediately it turned off. I've since relocated the Trini humidor/display case to the basement where I've found the RH/Temp to stay locked at 70% RH/70 degrees.
Now, does anyone else have any useful tips that might help any of us who are fumbling our way through using Cigar Oasis units. (for the record, I use the original Cigar Oasis, not the Jr, not the largers Cigar Oasis II unit, etc....).
Hope this stimulates some lively discussions!
