I have no idea about pipes, but was wondering, if i have a good gar, can I toss the nub in my pipe, its a meerschaum, I have never used it. It just sits on my tobacco table begging to be smoked.

Or any other ideas?

I'll try anything once....but that may be it for the cigar nub, lol.

No idea bro, let me know how it works out, I'm betting it'll burn a bit hot.

I've nubbed good cigars in a pipe. It wont hurt it at all and depending on what was smoked in the pipe, it may come off it as the bowl warms up. OpusXKC nubs cigars in pipes as well. Sometimes the cigar is just to good to toss.

And a meer is perfect for this as they don't absorb the flavoring of what's smoked in them.
Another option would be to pick up a cob (cheap) and use it for cigars only.

Or, you could send it to me (the pipe, not the cigar butt).

Since most cigars are not strong enough IMHO tp leave an imprint on a pipe bowl, I personally dont worry about it. Even a LFD DL would be hard pressed as a nubbed to make any impact on my pipe and pipe tobaccos. Now if its really light tobacco, sure it will affect it for a couple of bowls and then just fade away.

I have put a few nubs threw my meerschaum and after a good cleaning an aromatic seems just the same. Some cigars fare better at the pipe smoking than others. The biggest problem I have had is making sure that the nub "fits" and that there isn't a lot of extra air flow around the cigar and bowl.

Hmmm well I will give it a whirl, maybe this weekend. I keep putting it off and putting it off. Might have to write myself a note to remember to smoke my pipe. Thanks for the replies.

I crumbled up a roly once and stuffed it in my pipe and it tasted nothing like the cigar in its rolled form.It was actually quite disgusting. However, when I have stuffed a nub that got too short too hold, the flavor was unchanged.Has anyone else had that experience?

ACK

Well this morning I clipped off about an inch of a cigar, now it was about a 5 dollar churchill, nothing special. PHEW it tasted like ass in my pipe, but I held true and smoked it all, hoping that it come around. NOPE it tasted like Ivory soap. Left a lot to be desired for a first pipe experience. Looks like I will have to order some pipe tobacco..

Question

Is there a difference between pipe and cigar tobacco, and do you keep it at a different humidity?

Looks like I will go with a reccommendation from Peat. The CAO pipe tobacco.

Will report back later...

Churchill would give his nubs to his gardener, who then would smoke them in his pipe.

Just a little tidbit of useless knowledge.
