I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good books about cigars. I'd like to learn more about the different types, brands, different wraps + fillers, etc..Things that would be helpful in making decisions about what I may or may not want to try. Also I'd just like to get more educated on cigars in general.

Thanx

Rudman's Complete Guide to Cigars is a good general book, a little out of date as to brands, lines, etc. since it was last updated in 1997. Got mine on...?... I forget, likely eBay-half, for 9.95.

Perelman'd Pocket Cyclopedias, one on Cubans and one on non-, are also good sources of print information. Widely available, just Google for a vendor. :)

For cubans Min Ron Nee's "Encylopedia to Post Revolutionary Havana Cigars" is the veritable hands down "Mao Tse Tung Redbook" for Havanas. About 500 pages.

CCat is correct in this instance:

Well, it's very rare that I get to correct the grammar police........so I thought I'd go ahead and take a chance

:whistling:

Oh I've gotten him before, but he likes the edit button to cover his little paw prints.

It can be done but it's an extremely rare occurence ;)

Fast4Dr tried unsuccessfully here a couple of days ago and he failed miserably as well

I have two books that I read and re-read quite often. Check out The Idiot's Guide to Cigars and The Cigar by Conrad Barnaby. The latter back is more historical in nature, not a whole lot of information on individual sticks or anything like that. The first one contains a comprehensive list of cigars in the back wit htheri respective strengths and weaknesses. It's only downside is that the guy's research on online places is kind of poor.. Other than that, it's a great buy!.

Actually, they're both right. "Encyclopaedia" is an archaic but acceptable spelling.

You guys don't want to get me going on the grammar/spelling stuff, I'll put Bill in ground like a tent peg!!

I've caught him in a bunch of stuff lately, but have been too unmotivated... :sign: :sign:

Upon reflection, I remeber being told once that it's the height of rudeness to correct someone's grammar or spelling.

So I'll just leave that to CC, he LIKES being rude!!! :sign: :sign:

Good luck finding an MRN! Jacknife, myself and a contact in the UK are finding them very expensive and hard to come by. When you can find one its like paying for 2 to 3 college class books. :0 I even have Harvest Book Company conducting a search to try and find one. No luck yet.

there's no ISBN number so that's one reason it's hard to find.
plus, they made one run of these and one run only. from what I hear there is no current intent to take it to press again.

But, if you read german, there should be a German one on the market soon.

SFG75's right, The Complete Idiot's Guide to cigars is an informative read.
