Cigar Aficionado Top 25 and a pretty cool thread jack.

I am thinking once you smoke each cigar you pm me the score breakdown and any notes that you want. After I have everyone’s result for the same cigar I average the scores and post the final score and any comments for all to see.

Let’s keep this thread going just not to have a million threads. Once we have everyone who wants to sign up say they are in and any further details ironed out here and will post a new thread with all details and a final list of participants

So far we have confirmed

1) @CigarStone
2) @Pugman1943
Dan, just a thought ..... If you leave this here, people may not be aware there is a contest going on.

Me! I'm in!

All 5 cigars will be from different brands and easily obtainable. I will make sure prices will have a nice range to them just for fun. Also there will be Christmas sales I am sure so let’s set the deadline for signups for midnight of December 23rd. That way what I buy everyone pays less. I am in Miami for New Years and will ship the week of January 9th. I am thinking even with the holiday craziness we should get the cigars by then.

If you want to do a real experiment we can have say 3 more people including myself smoking the same cigars knowing what they are and doing ratings that way to see if banded vs blind produces enough of a bias ?

I’m in if you will have me.

How about you @xyz123 ? It would be nice to have a current reviewer weigh in on last year’s rankings

The NC RYJ Reserva Real.. uhhh.. it's not a bad cigar. I've only had the robustos.. I'd say they're a 90pt cigar. They used the Churchill.. until I have that vitola, I can only comment on the Rob.

I'll comment more on the rest when I have a little more time. I want to know how the cigars that are tested are chosen in the first place. They're not new.. usually. I don't think I've ever seen an ad for an actual CC before.. but you'll find some in the Top 25 every year.

I wonder too if the overseas publications have CC ads?

I'll just harken back to the day the Onyx seegar was top rated. Well, let's just say the Onxy was a TURD and not worth the time or money spent, acquiring it. If we're gonna rank "subjectively", then it is what it is. CA will continue to "sell" their subjectivity to the highest bidder. After-all, it is what they do. How can a man argue that the monkey testicle sweat he's tasting in the Oliva isn't better than the rhino hoof rot he's getting from the Tatuaje?! Who am I to say which is better?

Yea, I'm in a mood not worthy of posting, so I'll cease. Just saying, the wheel of flavors is truly subjective and if you can make(steal) money to find it, why not(if you have no morals). Yup, back to my cocktail!

My claims of vinegar and talcum powder from my flavor wheel are fact.

Well, I've found 7 different Illusione so far.. got them bundled up with a few bodyguards that were within reach. Should go out tomorrow.

None should invoke vinegar or talcum and hopefully will turn you on to more Illusione wares. I'll PM the TN here soon... gotta finish up my "kid" too quick!

I’d like to try the 10, but I don’t think I’d be worth a damn as a reviewer. But I’m sure I can rank anything from 1-10 lol.

And I thought it was a well known thing that the ratings in CA’s top 25 have almost always been bought and paid for.

I used to subscribe, as I found it a fun read, and a decent value as a subscription. Not sure what they cost now. I have a box of old editions somewhere in the basement.

Those are playboys…. Different articles

Sign me up.

Here is some useless fodder for you. I rank cigars that I smoke all the time. Nothing specific, just overall feel and did I enjoy the experience. Here is my list from this year of any I've ranked above 90. A ranking above 90 is considered box worthy for me. Obviously I'm missing some CC's, oh well...

The Oliva V is the only stick they make that I think is enjoyable (My opinion). If you believe a group of avid cigar smokers smoked that one and then the Padron 64 and thought, man this Oliva one is way better....... I have some Ocean front property in Utah you are going to love.. (More fact than opinion but I suppose it's opinion)

I've never been impressed with the Romeo Y Julieta NC's. To put that just behind the Padron 64 and above the Rare Pink (even though limited releases shouldn't be included in this) is crazy to me.

The Alec Bradley is 100% a purchased spot. I smoked 1 of those this year and didn't finish it... Before you say "its all personal taste", without looking back, AB has been buying spots in the top 10 the last 8+ years. I could be wrong and crazy, but I don't care enough to look back. If you say I am wrong, tell me that stick is better than the Padron 64, the my father, and Rare pink....

If you've read this far its probably because you don't agree with me and that's cool.

What if, we do our own CigarPass top 10? Someone (It's always me who gets volunteered) puts up a poll and we select 10 cigars as our "top 10 NC's" (sorry @CigSid) and then buys boxes to be able to send everyone who wants in all 10 sticks with generic bands (Napkin holders) on them. Then we compile the list and see what everyone thinks..... If enough people are interested I can make a new post (Sorry to hijack) and see what we can do.
I'm in. Alex Bradley sucks! 😂
