First i'd like to thank Anthony and Ray for this gift, Anthony being the class brother that he is and remembering my retirement, Ray for making it happen. This whisky is a 55% per volume strength and unchilled filtered with a natural color and made for the U.K. market. Spent most of the day raking wet leaves in a cold upper 30's type of day, probably have to finish Saturday with a lot of leaves still on the trees around the house. The wife made a pizza bread and tomato soup which hit the spot for the first cold day in Autumn, i believe the cold got me to thinking about a nice bracer as opposed to a spot of tea or coffee.
I poured a good dollop of this 10 year old whisky with a cube of ice and waited for the ice to melt. The first impression is a strong peat flavor that stays for a long time, i finished the drink over an hour ago and can still taste the peat. With the peat i could taste apples and a bit of oak with the peat over everything, i really like this drink. At the half way point, i don't know if the food that i ate is doing it but i could taste a sweet candy taste in the back of my mouth where i never tasted sweetness before. All i can say if you like peat and a strong alcohol bite you should try this offering.
