I have my normal rotation of 7 pipes. I have decided that I want another for english tobacco. It is one that has not been in my rotation for long so it has not been smoked much. I think it has had around 6-7 bowls smoked in it(aromatics). I am wanting to switch it to english now. Anything I should do beside give it a good cleaning?

I'd just give it a cleaning, let it dry out for a day or two and have at it. After only 6-7 bowls the aromatic ghost (if there really is much of one) should smoke right out. Most English blends will overpower the aromatic presence pretty quickly.

If you smoked 1792 in it, toss it and buy a new pipe!

I love our pipe nerd jokes.

 It didn't get anywhere close to this pipe, or any other for that matter. Only Boswell aromatics have been smoked in it. It has a smaller bowl and thick walls, so it is going to be perfect for my english flakes. I can't wait to get home since I have 8 new tobacco's that just came in! I think I am going for some Christmas Cheer 2008 first. While I smoke that I will get this pipe cleaned up.

Sorry if this is a threadjack B but I think it is somewhat on topic: Is it enough to seperate pipes into Aromatic and Non-Aromatic? Or do you guys go a step further and dedicate to English, VaPer, etc?

I have pipes for aromatics, pipes for English/Balkan blends, pipes for Burley blends (all but 1 are cobs), and pipes for Virginias. It really depends on the number of pipes you have. I have about 25 now (about 10 more than I really wanted to keep, but what's a fella to do? :whistling: ).

If you only have a few pipes, separate them as you can. Maybe have 1 or 2 pipes for aromatics and 1 or 2 pipes for anything else.

Some people smoke everything in all of their pipes and they seem to do just fine. It's up to you.

Good point Moe. I didn't really clarify enough as to what I am doing there. I am changing a pipe from aromatics to english flakes. I have pipes dedicated to english, aromatic, particular english and aromatics, and several others. I do seperate it more than aromatic and non aromatic.
