I'm looking to increase my storage capacity and was looking at larger humidors (500+ Count) but some of the prices are more than I'd really care to pay. I was looking at my dad's old cedar foot locker out in the garage and it hit me. I was just wondering if anyone has tried this before or would have any suggestion.

The cedar in the foot locker is rather different than Spanish Cedar. It's much more heavily scented, and from what I've read should be avoided as a method of cigar storage.

Bad idea. Spanish Cedar isn't even cedar. It's mahogany. The cedar footlocker you're talking about would be far too fragrant, and I'm not even sure if it would be any good at holding humidity.

Get some 'beads' and a big plastic storage bin. Put some wind stripping on the inside of the bin(not on the lid) to seal the lid and you're good to go.

Or go back out to the garage and see if you can find an old Coleman cooler, or a new one. Or go to Walmart, they apparently have 70 qt coolers on sale for $20. If you don't have $20, go to Walmart anyway. Walk in and walk out. F-ck Walmart anyway. :)

Thanks for the info!

I'm aware of the cooler route but I would like something that could double as possible furniture without breaking the bank.

Is the Cedar chest big enough to put a rubbermaid or cooler inside of? Just a thought.
