I probably give away more cigars than I smoke. One of the common recipients is the chairman of my department. He gave me a big break when I got out of residency, so I try to keep him well stocked to thank him. Anyway, he just got back from Cabo San Lucas and said he had some cubans for me. I haven't seen them yet, but it should be interesting. He's 72 and retiring this year. Its the thought that counts.

Definitely the thought that counts. Did he say where he purchased from? Post some pics if you can, would be interesting to see if he picked them up from J&J, if they look real or not. I suspect if not from there, they may not be real. Interesting none the less...

Yeah I couldn't find anything but fake cubans and TE-AMO's the last time I was down there- glad I brought my own stash of sticks to last me... nothing like a good cigar and glass of scotch after a day of deep sea fishing for tuna...

I found a lot of fakes in Mexico as well, but man do I love Te-Amo's.

I liked them too while I was down there I smoked a couple robustos...problem was when I got home none of my B&Ms in Northern VA. carried em...now that I'm in MO. I'll have to see if the Outlaw carries em....when I get home of course!!

Cheers,

There are at least 2 or 3 legitimate shops in Cabo. They are the nicer stores as well (of course), so there is hope. One of the shops used to be frequented by Michael Jordan. The young lady had a picture with him hung up on the wall. That was one of my favorite moments in Cabo, cuz she told me I was better looking than Michael Jordan. Funny but true. So I was kind enough to take a snap with her. Maybe she replaced MJ's photo with ours. :D

He gave them to me today. I am half afraid to smoke one - no idea what is rolled up in there. I'll post some picture when I get home.

That's hilarious!

I recently had a fellow BOTL at my church come back from vacation and he brought back some ISOMS. He surprised me by giving me one to try. The bands had been all removed before he flew home. He couldn't remember which was which. I'm hoping to fire it up after one of our mens softball games starting up next month. He said the ones he had so far were pretty tight on the draw. He's an Ashton man and wasn't completely drawn into the CC mystique. I agree, there are so many great NC's readily available.

It's definitely the thought that counts.

I know what you mean. My brother in law brought back a Cohiba from the bahama's. I didnt have the heart to tell him it was fake but I loved the gesture. That was almost a year ago and I have yet to work up the nerve to smoke it.
