Hey everyone. I recently decided to go the route of building a coolidor and am quite excited. During my research I came across several sources citing the ability to use silica cat litter in place of beads. I am interested in this concept and found the source below. Has anyone used this brand or no if there are any setbacks of this particular type of litter?

I don't have any direct experience, but that looks to be exactly what people have recommended in the past.
 
These would have to conditioned correct? How exactly is that done, thread jack off.

There is a Brother on this site who sells beads. Why would you go anywhere else to save a few pennies?

Because some people like the do it yourself approach. If the guy wants to make his own beads then let him make his own beads. If he's done the research to find this information then I'm sure he realizes there are pre-made beads available.

Also I did explicitly say in the topic description that I did not ask this to generate an argument between whether or not I should use namebrand beads that have been conditioned or the kitty litter version. The topic is for anyone who HAS used kitty litter or knows enough about the namebrand beads to know if the link I posted was equivalent to those more expensive ones (based on actual use). Thank you for the time.

Hey T2P my brother drunkfish3 sells them and I my self use them and have had no problems in the 14 months they have been in my humidor. The two of use have used them for quite some time and still have the original beads. If you interested in more Info PM Drunkfish3 he can give you more Info.
 
I use KLS beads. Been using them for a year. No conditioning needed. Just add D water and place in humi. I have them in 10 separate humi's with zero problems. The humidity stays at 65-68 percent and there is no taste/smell problem. Walmart has KLS beads for less than 10 bucks.

I fail to see where this devolved into an "argument." It would be an "argument" if this thread was 14 pages long, and folks were gettin' love from the BanHammer. Just two fellas sharing an opposing opinion is all.

The Harry Potter Kid With The Long Hair thinks it's cool you're doing the DIY approach, and The Sunny Stars Farts And Unicorns Guy thinks you'd be better off supporting Viper and his product.

silica kitty litter

Here's the link you need if you go the way of kitty litter. There's nothing wrong with it regardless of what others think, others sell, or others use.

Don't worry about donut boy and his rolleyes, he just likes trying to roust the "BanHammer" for us.
