CAO Maduro - Churchill 6.8 x 48

This cigar looked good from the time I took it out of it's cello. Had a nice dark maduro wrapper with a vien or two. Definitely a good looking cigar that promised a lot. I clipped it and lit it up. Had a nice draw, it was a tad tight for my preference but it worked out in the end. The smoke wasn't abundant like in cubans (you guys spoiled me) but it was there (5 out of 10). Has a nice nutty taste with a kick of spice that you tasted last and the wrapper was oh so sweet too. Smoked it till about 2 inches left. This cigar just lacked depth and body. To me it was so-so, but no boring. It's a nice cigar to have to give your taste buds something different. All in all I give it a 6.5 out of 10. I'd definitely buy a 5-pack of Robustos. I'm just not a big fan of churchills. I'd say it was a good experience but not one you'd remember from any other "good" smoke.

I like the robusto's better as well. Try the MX2's...i think you will like them better ;)

Well... I have a CAO Mad Torp that's calling me soon. I'll probably smoke it this weekend and add it's review here. Compare to your Churchill experience and such

Would you do that? I've heard these are good with about 6-9 months age. Mine only had about a month may'be I guess

I let a couple age for about 6 months to a year a while back and they were SILLY! Pick up a couple sticks and forget about them for awhile. You won't be dissapointed ;)

Well.... I would say that my experience was similar.

Looked good and smelled good coming out of the cello. Lit er up and had a nice - rather mellow (more so than expected) flavor that rolled in the mouth. Actually this whole 'gar was far more mellow than I usually prefer (and it was such a nice deep dark that I thought it was going to be nice n strong - oh well)

As I progressed, the ash was decent, though since I was sitting outside the wind never let it get more than .5 - .75", The flavor was a mellow spice that made it a nice unobtrusive smoke. Draw was good with a medium volume and the burn was fairly even and consistant throughout. near the end (last 2" or so) it started to burn slightly uneven (one side was consistantly 2-3mm further in) and got rather hot for my taste. I had to slow down enough that with just over an inch to go it was either dying with very little smoke per draw or just too hot if I drew too heavily. I finished at that point and came inside.

All said and done - not a bad smoke at all... I would definely like to try an aged one, but I wouldn't scoff at another. It makes a nice smoke for those times when divided attention is fine - like smoking and reading - which I often do. It's not one of the few cigars that I would smoke and devote all of my attention to (no chit-chat, reading, etc.)

Hope that helps

Good review Karl. I'd like to get my hands on an aged one too. I'm too impatient and new to cigars to let them age. :sign:
