I sat down and smoked the new CAO Cx2 last night. This was a gift, from who else but cigardawg, from RTDA. It was the 5x52 robusto. I am not sure on MSRP, but one of our local shops just got these in and has them at $8.50 for the robusto I think.

Here we go.....

This was a nice little smoke. The wrapper was medium brown and oily, no seams or veins at all. The prelight nose was full of light wood. The draw was prefect.

The construction was fabulous; even burn, nice tight white ash.

Now, I am not a huge fan of Cameroon wrappers, but this one was a bit different. I usually find them rather ordinary. Not much flavor, depth or complexity to them. But this one was good. I initially got some cedar, but as the smoke progressed, it became a deeper wood flavor. There were a few flavors in the middle that were subtle and I simply can't identify. I think I got a tiny bit of sweet spicy towards the end.

Overall, it was a medium bodied smoke that I really enjoyed. I think the addition of the Colombian tobacco to the filler allowed for some more body and flavor in the cigar; but that is simply a guess.

Thanks again to Scot for the smoke!!!

I look forward to hearing what others think of this new line.

I, too, enjoyed this cigar when I smoked it at the RTDA. I don't think I have done a review as of yet. I agree on the medium-bodied smoke. I also thought it was one of the few Cameroon wrappred cigars with character. Decent smoke. I think our local shop has them above MSRP, but I can't remember what they are supposed to be priced at.

Thanks for the review, Patrick.

How would you guys compare it to a Vintage Cameroon? Those are one of the few great smokes that I can't get enough of, but somewhat hard to find at times.

I would call it far superior to a Vintage Cameroon (assuming the one made by the Oliva family). There was much more flavor to this cigar than the vintage. Way back when, I smoked the Vintage Cameroon and enjoyed them. Then, I started to find Cameroon wrappers bland and boring...including that one. Only with the CX2 and the EDS Grovey, has my belief in Cameroon wrappers begun to revive.

I smoked one yesterday myself. The tinderbox had them for 8,9,10 i believe. And that's probably the best you'll find these for until they become overstock.

I thought the draw was ok, i noticed some soft and hard spots. The "notes" and different tastes throughout this cigar, were honestly wonderful. Coffee tastes and a bit woody. I really enjoyed cigar except, I'd probably never buy one for 10 dollars, maybe 7.

Had one tonight - my first of this particular new vitola. Not bad at all. I think Patrick hit the taste profile dead on. However, I do agree with KB - not worth the $8-10 it's being sold at now. Gimme a PAM Exclusivo @ $10.20 over this any day.

Anyone have a pic of this cigar? I havent seen these yet, but I will run down to the cigar palace and pick up a few tomorrow. I was never a CAO fan until the MX2, but I will try these out.

My local B&M has these in. I picked one up but haven't fired it up.

I can get you a pic tomorrow night if no one beats me to the punch.
