Just got done smoking the Monument (6 1/4" X 54), wasn't impressed.

Appearance wise the stick was beautiful. I usually lean toward small cigars, but this is all they had.

During the light up I was really impressed, but within 10 minutes I was left with nothing. My palate isn't really distinguished, but I noticed a real caramel taste. The draw was marginal as well. I was pretty disappointed with CAO. Aftertaste disgusted me. I am about to light up an edge to take the taste out of my mouth.

P.S - this is my first review, constructive criticism is appriciated.

Just picked up a fiver from CB, i'll wait a while and give them a shot in about a month, maybe they'e a bit wet.

I was also dissapointed. I've decided that CAO lacks a lot in the flavor part of this business but makes up for it with flashy packaging and hip styling.

I just smoked the robusto size a few days ago. Nothing spectacular, but an enjoyable medium-bodied cigar. I will probably pick up a few more and see if they improve with some aging at a lower RH.

i smoked a robusto as well. it was an ok cigar, but there just wasn't any oomph or complexity. Still a decent smoke for the milder cigar smoker.

I bought one at my local shop and was also not impressed. Joney sent me one in our blind fiver. I will let this one rest for a few months before I make my final decision on his one.

I have a number of CAO cigars, tried most of them. All leave a fairly nassy aftertaste. Quite a pungent smoke (pass me a peppermint please). I lean towards the Italia Robusto. Brazilia and Corillo, nah. Gold is semi-decent. Kind of like what Lurch said, good marketing. Got the CAO dvd movie with the L'anniversaire sampler, was pretty cool...

Tried one at my local B&M. All I can say is, it's a nice looking cigar with a very undistinguished taste.

CAO has some great cigars but this is not one of them. I tried it yesterday and :( . Its not so important to have alot of cigars come out every year, just a select few that are good.

Smoked one of these last night and it was pretty bad no flavor at all, descent prelight aroma but about all I got from it was a mouth full of smoke.

To be fair, I've not smoked one of these.

However, I wonder if the cigar is suffering from the larger ring gauges? I always get much more flavor from ring gauges less than 44 or so than from those larger. When these were first announced a lot of folks weren't thrilled with the ring gauge choices. I wonder if CAO made a mistake not putting out at least a corona sized vitola in this lineup? Maybe something along the lines of the Brazilia Piranha or the Italia Novella would better showcase the flavors of this blend (if there are any)? I suppose that the wrapper may be harder to get right on the smaller sizes.

Just a thought I had.

No thats not it. I like all sizes of cigars and this one is more like the taste of a giant cigarette. They need to worry about quality instead of quantity. I know thats hard to do when your in the CAO spotlight. For a puffer (a wannabe cigar smoker that only smokes in front of friends or when drinking) its the name and the look that draws there attention. For us its all about the aroma, taste, texture, heck you name it. Were like the cigar gestapo because we are regular smokers.... So when i have a piece of garbage like the America put in front of me its smells good for pre-light but thats all she wrote. If this was a 3 or 4 dollar cigar it would be ok but again your paying for the name. A name thats becomeing weaker to REAL cigar smokers every year lately.

I am in the process of smoking another CAO America, the Potomac, and I must say that I do like these. It is on the milder side, but good for the morning or early afternoon. There are no real dominant flavors as some have pointed out, just good clean tobacco flavors. It is priced a tad higher than I think it should be, but otherwise a decent smoke. I will pick up a few more.

I tried one of these yesterday. It was a good smoke, nothing real outstanding about it. Pre-light aroma was fantastic and the taste had a sweet note to it. Flavor was pretty much the same all the way through. Basic tobacco with a hint of sweetness. One thing I really like about CAO is the construction. I have never had a CAO with burn or draw issues. No relights or touch ups were needed for this stick.

It is a nice smoke for sitting around with the guys and playing a game or two. If I were focusing more on the flavor profile, I probably would not have been impressed, but for a casual time it was fine. Only thing working against it for this venue is the cost.

Nice review bro. I just wanna comment on one of the points you made about construction/draw. I too have never had a draw/burn/construction issue from a CAO, they do a pretty amazing job making sure the draw test each cigar. Mad props to them, btw have you seen their DVD - VERY cool insights, highly recommended (borrow it from a friend though as its only about 20-30minz. long).
