I was recently gifted a CAO America from a very generous BOTL Local669. After dinner tonight I decided to head out on the patio to smoke this while listening to the Royals game on the radio. Figured I might as well try my hand at another review.
Two things immediately struck me about this cigar: 1. It was a big cigar 6.2 X 54. 2. It was a very attractive and well constructed. It had a nice barber pole double wrapper on it, and it was flawless from head to foot.
I clipped the head, and fired this cigar up. The first few puffs produced volumes of smoke, and a noticeable cedar taste. This cigar had a medium draw (not tight, not loose) and had a firm white ash that held strong. Through the first 1/3 this cigar was cedary and creamy.
The first ash fell after an inch and a half. In the second third this cigar turned to more of a leathery flavor while still maintaining it's creamy taste. This cigar was smoking very smooth, and it kept an even burn throughout.
The ash continued to hold firm, and the draw stayed the same throughout. The only problem I was noticing was a major tar buildup, so I clipped a little more off the head and it eliminated the slight bitter flavor I was getting. In the final third the taste did not change much, still staying with the leather and cream flavors, and picking up just a little bit of spice. This cigar was good enough that I had to head inside to grab a toothpick, because I was going to enjoy this one for as long as I could. I only laid it down at the end because it was getting to hot on my tongue.
Overall I was very impressed with this cigar. I would say it was medium both in body and strength. It had a great creamy taste throughout, and I nubbed it as far as I could stand it.
CAO America....I salute you!
