I believe the issue started when I downloaded an IE7 update (and please don't tell me I should use FireFox  ).

I've changed the password, a couple of times, and when I try to log on, I get that little pop-up window that says my name and I'm logged on, but then it takes me back to the "Log On / Register" page. Every time I do that it goes back to the same thing. I've cleared Cookies, Temp Files, yadda yadda, but nothing changes.

Suggestions? All other sites and Boards are working fine.

.....you should use FireFox.....

You can try to painfully figure out exactly what's going on, but I'm inclined to suggest a sledge hammer - this should work:

- Dump your DNS cache
- Clear the cookies
- Clear the browser cache
- Reboot, and try again.

Good Luck - B.B.S.

Great tips above, as a last ditch, you should use firefox! :whistling:

Though I'm no IE7 expert, you might also try

Tools> Internet Options> Security> Trusted Sites> Sites> Add: www.cigarpass.com

This should bypass any silly security crap.

Or... :whistling: ..... use firefox :sign:

Did it, did it, that too, and did it. Still doesn't work.

Yep, did that too, and still nothing.

By the way, does anyone thing I could try FireFox??? :whistling:

I had the same problem with my home computer. I could not figure it out. Finally just installed Firefox.

You know, we could look at this from a broader perspective to see if you can narrow down the issue...

I'm not posetive of the exact steps here since I've got IE 6.0, but they should be close:

Head to 'internet options', it used to be under the 'tools' pull-down

Look for the 'security' tab
click 'custom level'
select the 'low' option, and click 'reset'
try and login, if that works reset yourself to the standard 'medium' setting and let us know.
If this gets around your issue, it means *something* in the security list is blocking you, and that we need to root around a bit to find the issue.

You can also just repair / reinstall IE7, in the control panel click on the installed programs icon
highlight ie7
click on the repair button at the top of the page

If that doesn't work, you could try the IE7 download page

Barring all that, firefox is freakin sweet

Holler back either way, in the tech support trade 'no news is good news' so if this thread dies I'll not think anything else of your IE woes :whistling:

I'll try all those tonight sometime Rob, and thanks. I'll post results too.

Maybe this will also solve the "98 pages of new posts" issue I currently have, and have had for a while.

The Security thing didn't work.

I couldn't find either the "Installed programs" icon or that "Repair" button, so I couldn't try that.

I downloaded IE7 again and nope, still won't work.

OK, all joke aside about FireFox, I have a couple of questions regarding this program:
  1. If I install it, can it be easily un-installed if I don't like it? I know some computer programs "attach" themselves in such a way that getting rid of them is next to impossible without "Format "C".
  2. The Wife and I have different log-ons on the computer so we can have our own desktops, favourites, settings, etc. If I install FireFox on my Log-On, can she still use IE7 on hers?

1) Yes. Easily uninstalled.
2) Yes. You can both keep using IE when you want. Just set FireFox to your default, leave her default browser as IE. One won't replace the other.

Well, looks like I'll try that today.

I'll post results, hopefully from my home 'puter.

Looks like FireFox solved the problems. I'd heard people say it was slower loading but I don't see that.

Doesn't look as fancy as IE7, but if the functionality is there, who gives a shit!!

Thanks for your help and the recommendation to use FireFox!!!!

If you do experience slowness, it could relate to one of two things. 1) FireFox has a tendency to become a memory hog after being open for hours and hours on end. If you're like me and have your computer running almost 24/7, regularly close the whole browser and reopen it once a day for the best performance.

2) Some advanced page loading configuration can actually be tweaked to increase performance as well. See: this article.

This is another cool thing about FireFox - you can get skins to make it look however you'd like! (Example - even just like IE7!) Just visit the official Mozilla Add-Ons Site (Clicky) and browse around the Themes and then take a look around at some of the other amazing utilities there are for the browser.

P.S. - Welcome to the enlightened side ;)
