First off, congratulations to the Canadian Women's Olympic hockey team on a gold medal, USA finishing second for silver. I guess there's some controversy surrounding how the women's team celebrated their win, but I think it's just marvelous!

I couldn't believe it, but the Canadian Women's hockey team combined all three loves of my life into one set of photos!

Beer, cigars, and hockey? :0

Why yes, I do believe that is beer, cigars, and hockey!

Beer? Check. Cigars? Check. Hockey? Double-check!

I guess the IOC is raising hell about holding a questionable after-party on the ice, including their conduct regarding a possible underage drinker (she's 18, but turns 19 next month so...??), but I say congratulations to them and some very nice photos! I think I almost passed out at number 25, Tessa Bonhomme!

I think it silly! There wasn't even anyone in the building. Everyone's got to complain about something! Oh and Jon you forgot one other thing.

1. Beer
2. Cigars
3. Hockey
4. CHICKS DRINKING BEER, SMOKING CIGARS, AND PLAYING HOCKEY

There... fixed.

I fell in love with women's hockey when I saw that.

Yeah, you have to hand it to these girls, they played hard and worked their asses off. I personally think that the US teams and Canada teams are playing at the same level (in terms of skill), and the rest of the world needs four more years to realize that they should take Women's Hockey seriously.

But alas, I do take #25 VERY SERIOUSLY... :0

Drinking age laws in Canada are a joke and rarely enforced in my experience as a underage drinker. I went to Quebec regularly, as soon as I was old enough to drive. If you could see over the bar, you could order a Qt. of Labatt 50 for short money and learn to speak French from the loveliest teachers you could imagine.

Course that was the olden days.

Doc.

I had never watched a women's hockey game until last night and I have to say that it was great. Now I am not a hockey guy, I watch it and know the rules but I don't know the little things that more seasoned fans pick up on.

I was also very impressed at the number of goodlooking women on both teams. The celebration pictures speak for themselves.

I can't believe I just read a reference to Labatt 50. Country bars and Quebec the only places you can find 50.

Here's a link with more pics HERE

Congratualtions on the celebration, nothing wrong with it in my eyes. The Mrs. asked me if they were my new dreamgirls

If I had to guess Pete I'd say Canada.

no you smart ass, (ill take care of you tomorrow) the bottle is only given to those of the canadian teams that make the podium.

"Some winning athletes get handed a bottle of champagne, but Canadian medallists are receiving a bottle of beer — and they’re not your average 12-ounce...
...is a three-litre jug, shaped like an oversized champagne bottle. ...
...Montgomery, along with Maëlle Ricker, Mike Robertson and Alexandre Bilodeau have already received their rare bottles, which are not for sale to the public. Each Canadian to reach the podium finish will receive a bottle signed by seventh-generation Molson family member Geoff Molson.

In that case I'd say emigrate to Canada and win a gold medal! :p

Ah yes, the good old days, when the rich would ride around in zeppelins and throw money down to the folk below, and the invention of the cotton gin revolutionized your wardrobe forever. Good on ya Doc!

That's awesome. Yeah, it would be different if they were doing that during the medal ceremony. After 4 years of hard work, you should be able to enjoy youself however you want. I just wish they ended it all with a pillow fight with nothing but their skates on. :)

From NPR:

WOMEN'S HOCKEY FALLOUT

The Canadian Olympic Committee basically said their women's hockey team made only one mistake while swigging champagne and beer, and lighting cigars, on the ice, in celebration of their gold medal.

Getting caught.

COC president Michael Chambers said nobody would've known or cared had it been contained in the locker room. But by going out in front of reporters, the party become somewhat controversial, especially with an 18-year-old player being seen drinking in a city where the legal age is 19.

"It was just us savoring the moment," tournament MVP Meghan Agosta said. "We were not thinking about what we were doing, but we are responsible for what we did."

Doc.

So, basically, the IOC's philosophy is, "If we don't see it, it doesn't bother us. Because someone else saw it, now we have to react."

What hypocritical idiots. Just reprimand them, and let them have their celebration. Friggin' liberals these days. What, an athlete can't enjoy a beer and a cigar anymore after winning the OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL (which is equivalent to being the absolute best there is in their respective country)? FFS, Phelps got caught smoking the gonja and we didn't string him up like this. I'm sorry, but I'm just going to say it:

The U.S.' scorn for the Canadians winning the gold is just pure SOUR GRAPES.

Get over yourself.

Get over yourself.

x2 I saw this and could not believe it. The IOC is a bunch of pompus assh**e's.

If I won a gold metal, something I had worked for my whole life which comes down to one day (one run, one games, etc) and I won....I would most likely under therules of the IOC be kicked out of the country and possibly all of sport for life.

I'd be outthere nude for godsake....
