Can this be converted to a Humidor?

I found a guy that makes awesome wooden boxes and I was wondering if this could be converted into a humidor. It wouldn't have to be the best humidor ever but it would have to serve it's normal purpose. Not a great start? I didn't realize I had to be inducted into these forums. I am a 23 year old that is trying to think of a cool idea for a birthday present for my Dad. I myself am not a cigar smoker I just figured I would go to a cigar forum where people knew what they were talking about to ask this question. I guess that I was wrong sorry my question is not worthy of Cigar Pass.

Most likely wouldn't make a very good humidor, but a great box for cigar smoking accessories like a cutter and lighter.

I don't know which one of those boxes you were planning on getting your Dad but they are about the same price of a real humidor. Check out cheaphumidors.com. If you must go with one of those then perhaps you should ask the builder if he has ever built a humidor and maybe workout a deal with him.

Thank you for the suggestion but the whole point is that I really want to use this Blackhawks box.

Well, it is a great looking box for sure. You might ask the builder if they could line it with spanish cedar. The natural wood alone will impart fragrances to the cigars and with proper humidification will most likely warp the wood. Asking is free.

It's not going to work as a functional humidor, based on what they appear to be in the pics.

You would be better served to get a desktop humidor and seek out someone to do a carving.

Too bad the Blackhwks lost anyway. Since you have A reprieve as the Blackhawks are out of the playoffs you should just get a proper humidor and put the Blackhawks logo on it. That can be accomplished very simply. No drama.
