Hiya all,

So I've done some searching on the forums for what people's feelings are on pre-embargo cubans, and it seems to be pretty split. Some people say they like them, and some say they don't. I found a deal on cigar.com for 10 pre embargo Camacho's for $100 and I just wanted to get people's feelings on the camachos.

Anyone tried them? Liked them? Huge rip off or worth 10 bucks a stick?

Any input would be valued! Thank you!

I have had them and do like them. When you ignore the hype behind the supposed contents it is a good cigar. I won't pay full retail for them but $10 per stick is alright in my opinion. Just my $.02 though.

I believe there is a review, search for it. From what I've read, pass on them. They and others like them are all marketing. If you are interested in dropping $100 on Cubans PM me, we can talk.

So you're saying I shouldn't expect God and his angels to drop down and give me a high five after my first puff? :) Thank you for your 2 cents! I'm gonna need a lot of cents if I hope to make sense of the ins and outs of cigar-land.

At $20 a stick they better. At $10, I'll take the cigar by itself. Just keep an open mind about it and ignore the controversy about the supposed Cuban leaf content.

The fact is, you can get real Cuban leaf cigars at $10 a stick. If that is the experience one is after, no need to fool around with cigars slathered in marketing.

When you say people are split on pre-embargoes, do you mean pre-embargo cigars in general? Or the Camacho ones you're looking at? Because they are two completely different animals. Actual pre-embargo Cuban cigars are over 50 years old, and you'll want to make sure they were stored properly every step of the way. Camacho pre-embargoes seem to be constantly produced with some magic bale of tobacco that never runs out, and by now have maybe a shred of actual pre-embargo leaf in them, if that.

I was saying in general. Seemed like most forum posts said "Pre-Embargo cubans can be great in general, if you ignore the whole cuban thing" and others who said they tried ones that were awful.

I'm not mentally equipped to vet the storage of the pre-embargo's so I think I'll pass and buy real cubans, or perhaps buy both to compare (and perhaps to give up a few when I want to make my non-regular cigar smoking friends feel special).

Thank you all for the good advice! I appreciate it!

I have those Lars Tennons pre embargo I'd love to sell for 100 a wack but I'd just send em to ya - they are horrible. I think there still in an old humi in the basement.

They might even be better covered in mold? I just checked on 'em, mold won't even touch 'em.

Kona, the tears are running down my face you made me laugh so hard. Mold won't even touch them.... Too much brother.

Is this the Pre Embargo 1959 with army green tag? Shop here has them for $6.56. It was great I think I'm going to get a handful.
