Hello everyone,
I am in the process of remodeling our home, part of this will include a home office/man cave. I am having all of our kitchen cabinets and cabinetry through out the house custom built including my office. I have requested the cabinet maker design some of the built in cabinets in my office be a humidor with glass doors for displaying as well as some space behind regular doors for storage. The designer does not know that much about humidors, other than telling them to line the furniture with Spanish cedar I don't know what else to tell them. If anyone has suggestions or websites that might help it would be greatly appreciated.

I've done this for others in the past......

Oh man... if only....

Arlin, you like fishing? I'll swap you salmon and halibut fishing for a humi, and it needn't be a built in! (altho I'll be building a place soon...)

Someday a custom humi shall be mine...

I did exactly that two summers ago. I ordered an extra just for me. I sealed the seams with hot glue, replaced the shelves with ones I made from Spanish Cedar, sealed the doors and have been using it since. No fancy cooling and I use Viper's beads for humidity.

Welcome to CP!!

Why don't you head on over to the Into Forum and tell us a little bit about yourself (besides the fact that you're remodeling ;) ). We like to know a a tid bit about the people we meet and interact with around here.

As far as your question goes... As long as your carpenter can make the doors and seams seal tight then you shouldn't have any problems. I've never done something like Bruce (NullSmurf) has, but I have built a couple Ammo Can Humis. My first couple were a trial by error of sorts, but since then I've gotten better with time (and with a better saw). Good luck in your endevor...
