The poll asks about "nudity" and your post mentions the ass and "perky rack" of a young woman. These are two different things. Nudity would be anything that shows genitals and/or nipples in my opinion. Therefore if there is "nudity" then I would say NO to putting it in a sigtag or avatar. If it is just a scantily dressed young lady (such as in a bikini or thong) I have no issue with that. Actual nudity should be linked with a "NSFW" warning.

I can vaguely see your point and am inclined to respectfully disagree more than agree. On the whole, a majority of the dames posted are done so within the confines of a single thread, usually with NSFW nomenclature. In terms of avatars and sig pics - to place such confines on those is a bit over the top. Yes, this is a cigar forum, so do we eliminate all tangental topics? Sports? Poker? Libations? Its a slippery slope and where to draw the line becomes increasingly tenuous as one travels down a road such as you suggest. To set such confines becomes difficult in that who then decides what is acceptable? Is it the proverbial "I know it when I see it" test? Or do we, once chicks are eliminated/banned, then start banning anything else someone finds offensive - like a picture of Matt R. as an avatar? :laugh: Kidding aside, I trust you can see the point - the next stop is to ban/restrict other things which may be funny or amusing to some in a childish, frat-boy type of way.

Most of us are adults here and if there are concerns about who is going to be peering over your shoulder while you view the forum, then the options are relatively simple - pick a more discerning time to view the forum, disable sig pics as the wise Wilkey has already pointed out, or we do away with everything other than cigars and cigars only. The sound, reasonable option seems pretty clear to me.

I'm not going to agree or disagree with this thread, as I feel I'm too new to have a say in anything that goes on with this site. But, this post reached ridiculous levels, you're definately straining at a gnat, my friend. 9 out of 10 forums have nudity/porn/lude pics rules that you must adhere to, which has absolutely nothing to do with topics on hand, even if those topics were to stray into the most sexually extreme subject, unless of course, you need pictoral explanations.

If those pictures were done away with, it wouldn't impact the topics on hand in the slightest, neither the would it limit the wide array of subjects we have on hand. It makes no difference to me either way, I'll turn off the pics of they create a problem with my specific viewing locations.

I personally have NEVER not watched an R rated movie because my kids are in the room, even when they were 4 and 5, they are now normal healthy 16 and 18 year olds, they can understand movies are not real, and after all it's just a naked body, everybody has nipples and pubes, (well most of us ), I guess some people are not ready to have that conversation with thier kids.

Neal has a great point.

Longevity does matter. If some guy who has been here for 3 days came in and started posting like Wilkey he'd likely be run out of here pretty quickly as some kind of "know it all" blowhard. If he came in and statred posting like Neal he'd be run out as some kind of "internet tough guy" who is trying to rule the roost without having the juice to do so.

( The following is bolded so everyone can see I"m NOT bashing Wilkey or Neal)
We all respect Wilkey's and Neal's opinions and well thought out posts because they have been here for a length of time and have proven over that time to truly have the best interest of the board in mind when they post. The same can be said of cohibasurfer.

Longevity does matter. Not as much as what one does with that longevity, however, you can't really do anything over time without having the time.


As far as the original post goes, I think some of the avatars and sigs are a little overboard, but I just don't look at them. It's the same kind of thing that I posted the other day about language. I find some of the language used by some here to be rather offensive. They're free to use it as I am free to not read their posts after discovering it. I think self moderation is likely the best option and it's the option I've taken.

Wilkey's posts are "NEVER" anything but helpful and informative and if a newbie emulated that I think people would say to themselves "wow, the guy seems to know a great deal, but alas he is a newb" On the other hand (not singling out Neal or Michael) a newbie coming off as an internet tough guy would get run in a heart beat.

Yes they are. However, many of them have to do with the way things are done around here. There have been several suggestions made by Wilkey that have become part of how this site works. If a 3 day newb came in and posted the same stuff, he be told to not try to change the way things are done and leave if he doesn't like it (as he should be). We take Wilkey's suggestions to heart because we know by his participation here over time that he truly has the best interests of all of us in mind.

That's all I'm saying.

I fail to see how that is anything but helpful and informative? We may in fact be saying, or at least thinking, the same thing?

I think we're on the same page with regards to the importance and legitimacy of Wilkey's posts.

My point is that if someone who has been here for three days (or even a month or two) got involved on a level that he has the exact same posts would be looked at completely differently. They would be looked at as someone who has very little invested in Cigar Pass coming in to try to change things. This is why longevity matters. It's not the be all, end all, but it does matter quite a bit more than some would like to think.

I really don't know any other way to communicate my point (I'm not nearly as blessed as some when it comes to eloquent discourse) so I'll just be quiet now.

Please do back up your statement with some facts. This is by far the most lenient cigar forum out there, and I have never come across as an arrogant person. Your statement about "old timers disappearing" is something I've heard since early on. I take no offense to your opinion of the logo, I simply felt it was necessary that I explain the history behind it as it's pretty clear that you were confused about it being obscene.

Those who helped to establish CP and those who continue to move it in the right direction is a GROUP EFFORT my friend, both new and old members are to thank.

My wife still doesn't believe that the Avatars and sig pics aren't actually pictures of the people whose names they're under.(Yeah she believes all you guys with chick pics are really chicks with pics of yourself up here) I just get tired of explaning to her that this site's mostly guys.
