Are box pressed cigars pressed square before or after the wrapper is applied? Just want to know.

My understanding is they initially got their shape from being pressed tightly into a cigar box (hence the term box pressed) with their brethren after being rolled. Needless caveat: someone please correct me if this is incorrect.

I'm just guessing on this but with the popularity of the shape, I'm sure some makers have begun using other methods to get the shape prior to their being boxed. Anyone have info on this? Personally, I like the shape of box-pressed cigars.

I thought I read somewhere that they make the boxes for box-pressed cigars a little smaller than normal. Then they just stuff them in there and you get a box-pressed cigar. This might be for "slight box pressed" cigars like the padron X000 series, not sure. Maybe a FOG can correct me?

I know on the PAMs you can look at the wrapper and can tell that they were pressed after they were rolled.

I figured it would go both ways. Thanks for the replys
