Well my Grandmother of 92 yrs passed away yesterday morning. To honor this great woman, I broke into a box of Bolivar lonsdales from Sept. 2001 tonight. The wrappers are medium reddish brown with a slight sheen. This smoke had a very nice prelight draw with whisps of nutmeg/twang. After lighting this beauty it was evedent it had that Boli medium/full earthy flavor. As I puffed it produced a cinnimon/nutmeg undertone, which lasted until the the pepper quietly slipped in at about the 1/3 mark.
The pepper flavors, black and red never became over bearing. The prevalent Earthy/cedar tone came washing through like a nice swell for the last third and mixed well with the mild pepper flavors. It was just a solid all around good smoke. It was deffinatley an Evelyn (my grandmother) of a smoke. I'll miss you Grams.
I smoked this with 2 glasses of ice water. It stayed razor sharp and had a firm solid dark gray ash.
I'm thinking of offering up a few for trade and share. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM.
Smoke on.
