I had a chance to smoke this lil smoke today on the drive into the office. I figured I'd better stop taking pictures while driving, so this is the best I can do.

This smoke was absolutely stunning for the 40 minute drive into the office. By the time I walked to the elevator well in the garage, I had smoked this guy all the way down to the nub where it was burning my fingers.

The smoke had everything you'd expect from a Bolivar smoke. It was woody with notes of new leather and fruity finish. The smoke is a demi corona, otherwise known as a minuto smoke. The size is 4 3/8 x 42 and the wrapper was dark caramel color. The nose was sweet and tangy and had a peppery prelight draw. Upon light, the first puffs were spicy that quickly faded into that distinct Bolivar flavor.

The first 2/3 were highly complex and filled with thick smoke that I'm sure the people on the freeway got a wiff of as I drove along. It started of a medium bodied smoke. Little did they know, many were smelling their first cuban. The last 1/3 layed down into a more full bodied smoke with a pure bolivar flavor. There weren't any real changes until I got down to an inch where I noticed there was a little bitterness. A quick light purge brought the flavors back and smacked me with cream, cedar, nuts, and new leather.

Damn this was a great smoke. It has dethrowned my favorite commute smoke.

My top 3 commute smokes are now:

Bolivar Coronas Junior
HdM Petit Robuso
Illusione 68

If you get a chance for a smoke that you need to finish in under an hour, this is the smoke for you.

I paired this smoke with of all things, a tall glass of mountain dew on ice.

For some reason, every time you write a review I get the urge to make a purchase :D

Nice review!

Thanks a lot. When I get replies like yours it makes me want to keep doin reviews.

I really appreciate your reviews!!!

Thanks for your time and effort with these. I don't always agree with your point of view, but it seems like all of them are both poignant and credible.

This one surely hits the mark. I wonder how close your "fruity" comment comes to the "citrus" I have found with the Boli coronas and get hints of from the Boli PC's/Tubos #2???

Cheers,

Keep doing your reviews! I always seem to end up doing a cigar search after reading them also.

I can only explain the fruity after reading the MRN one day after smoking a stick and saw fruity used. It immediately struck me as a flavor that I tasted in the smoke. I can only describe it as a very subtle, and i mean very subtle flavor of a juicy fruit stick of gum. I hate to even say that, because I don't want anyone to think that I believe a smoke tastes like cheap sweet gum. But imagine the aftertaste, oh, a half hour after spitting out some juicy fruit gum and that's the fruity flavor i'm talking about. just a SMIDGE of sweet with a flowery fruity finish. Its hard to put into words.

All I can say is that when I read the MRN about a different smoke, it was like a lightbulb went off in my head and the flavor was identified.

as we all know, YMMV, and each of us have our own perceptions. That's what makes cigar smoking so much fun.

Agreed! I think I know what you are talking about though. I think I recall that Devil Doc stated that we need a tobacco vocabulary of flavors/tastes rather than kitchen/pantry items.
