Jeffrey included this cigar with that magnificent Siglo VI, and it's one of the Bolivars I have been wanting to try for some time. Thank you so much for the opportunity to smoke this beautiful cigar brother!
The construction is perfect, just enough resistance when squeezed with a perfect foot. The draw is spot on. The aroma at cold is that classic Bolivar sweetness. After toasting the foot and taking a few quick puffs, I take my first full draw (ala Greg), and am greeted with a deep, sweet earthiness and beautiful Cuban tobacco. Every now and then I get a hint of that Cuban leaf that takes me back to the first time I smoked a Cuban back in 2003. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's like traveling back in time. I absolutely love that experience.
The first and second third of this cigar blended together quite nicely, and it was much different than any other Bolivar I have smoked. It was very earthy, with spice at the back of the throat and a leathery finish. I have read that the BBF has much more earth and leather than other Bolis, and I find those statements very accurate. It's not as creamy as the Royal Corona, and doesn't have the coffee of the PCs or CJs at this point. The flavors stayed constant through the second third.
Into the final third, I'm getting the coffee and chocolate undertones that I find more prominent in the rest of the Boli line. Earth and leather are still the front runners of this cigar, but it's nice to see the characteristics of the marca coming through.
The burn and draw throughout the cigar was perfect, and I feel privileged to have the chance to smoke this fine Boli. Thank you Jeffrey for this experience! Down the line I will have to pick up a cab of these wonderful smokes.
