Just smoked one of these today after work. I was sitting on the balcony looking out into another dreary overcast evening, but with a glass of Woodford reserve in one hand, this cigar in the other, and ogling at a hottie across the couryard through a haze of smoke, the evening just became more cheerful as it went on.

I must say this one kind of kicked my ass. Definitely full bodied with a very beautiful thick smoke. Draw was tight during the first quarter of the stick, then eased up by the halfway point. Burn was very even all the way through. Taste was quite spicy and I noted a hint of burnt coffee with an earthy aftertaste. Except for the tight draw at the beginning, I thoroughly enjoyed this cigar. Smoked it to the nub until my fingers started to burn, and even then, I still wanted a final puff. At the end, my head started to spin, but I'm not sure if it was the cigar or the third helping of Woodford!

Because of the tight draw, this cigar gets an 89 from me.

These can definately be an a$$ kicker. They are good, but I prefer the Royal Corona's a little more.

Yes, I agree. On a day to day basis, I too prefer the Royal Coronas. Its less agressive, better balanced and I've also never experienced a tight draw on the Royal Coronas. However, I prefer a fuller bodied cigar after a hard day at work and in need of a little ass kicking. Also, IMHO a full bodied smoke also goes real well with a sweeter bourbon like Woodford. Forgot to mention that the Belicosos Fino I smoked was from 2003.

Great review, my first BBF was an 03 and was not pre-warned about it's true power. Half way through I settled back in my chair and went for a great ride. I had it with strong coffee that had just a bit of a teaser.

Good smoke, but a bit on the powerful side to be truely enjoyable.

I think the BBF would be my favorite if it wasn't for the firm draw. Still a great smoke though. I haven't tried any of the other bolivar line. I always go straight for the belicosos!

Are we talking about the same cigar? I just had a Bolivar Fuerte Belicoso Fino Cigar and here is my take on it.

Got this from JR Sample Belicoso Pack. Cigar looked fine. Found that it didn't burn well at all and had to re-light at least 4 times. Draw was bad until I cut a large section off. Found it very Mild smoke. Toward the end it got stale tasting. I wouldn't buy this again but I would try it again incase I got a bad one

Nope, not the same cigar. They are talking about the Habanos Bolivar Belicoso Fino.

The Bolivar Belicoso Fino... Not much else to say.

The Bolivar Fuerte Belicoso Fino...I think you got a bad one. While not the powerhouse that the Cuban version is, it is definitely not a mild smoke. It is one of the few things that I still buy from JR. I really enjoy them. :)

Read somewhere around here that JR ships wet. Did any of the other cigars burn like that? Sound like it needed a little time at say 65% rh.

Had it about a month in the old coolidor. The other cigar Maria Mancini Magic Mountain Cigar was much better and it came in the same sample pack. Might have just been a dud.

I enjoyed BBF when I purchased a 5'er. I saved one to age, which is still aging. I'm intersted to see how it will turn out after a couple of years. :whistling:
