We've had a couple conversations on here about my extensive curriculum vitae---a resume that MORE than makes up for what it lacks in depth with sheer breadth. 🤣

So I thought y'all might get a kick out of this. Came across it while looking for some paperwork I didn't find. Yep. That's me. Back in the day. Man. To be that young, skinny, wild & free again.

What's the craziest tattoo story you can tell?
 
Very cool...!!

Somewhere I think I've got pics of me, back in the day, when I was serving my time in Hollywood. Some very big name studio control rooms, many of which sadly don't exist anymore. You've inspired me to look..... :cool:

Oh. My. Well .....

There used to be an "old salt" Navy thing of getting "Your Name" tattooed on your dick. Bar bet stuff; once a guy's drunk enough you say "hey, I'll bet you $50 I've got your name tattooed on my DICK." 🤣

So, being a studio in a base town, we'd get inquiries from time to time as to whether we'd do THAT tattoo. And we'd brush 'em off a crazy price, $100, $500, whatever. But sometimes we'd miscalculate, and they'd actually have the money.

That's when Mike (the studio owner I apprenticed under) would go in the back and come out with a short length of board, a small hammer, and three stainless steel nails. 😳

"Uh, what's that for?"

"To stretch the skin so I can tattoo it of course. You didn't think I was gonna hold that thing in my HAND did you?" 😂

But the story I remember the most fondly:

I was still just an apprentice. And this woman came in. Tall. Big, in that Hollywood bombshell kind of way. And gorgeous. Mike's kind of snickering under his breath because he can see how hard I'm trying to control letting on how smitten I am. And naturally, plays off that he's busy & passes her off to me, explaining that I'm still an apprentice but I'm really good & he'd consider it a favor & .... you know. Selling it.

So, she wants the tiniest heart I can do. Right above her hoohah. I gulp hard, get out the padded table, she drops her skirt with a smile.

She's wearing tiny white panties with little hearts all over them.

"Oh, hearts" I kind of stammered.

"Yes, I wore them just for you" she grinned back at me.

Lordt. Ten minute tattoo and maybe the hardest time I've ever had with one. So to speak. 🤣

It’s interesting that you posted this. Just the other day I was thinking that someone should start a thread with pics of what we looked like in our younger days. You beat me to it, so the honor is all yours!

About five months, but honestly control rooms, live rooms, wiring chases, and bars were about all I got to see...... 🤣

We hung at the Roxy, the Rainbow, and the Whisky A Go Go.....to hear bands. Yeah, that sounds good.....🤣
