If you think bookers leaves too many wooden splinters down you’re throated and Basil Hayden is not strong enough then Blanton’s might be your ideal bourbon.
Blanton’s is a single barrel bourbon this means that it is not blended, and it is only bottled one barrel at a time. In addition there is no vintage, rather Blanton’s bottles their bourbon based on consistency and taste rather then vintage. Blanton’s mainly sells 2 Bourbons in the US, the original blend which I am reviewing and the straight from the barrel edition which is already reviewed here. Blanton’s also makes 3 additional bourbons for the overseas market and duty free markets. These bourbons main differences are their alcohol by volume the special reserves is bottled at 40%, the silver is bottled at 49% and the gold bottled at 51.5%. The original which I am reviewing stands at 46.5% and retails for about $40.
Blanton’s original bourbon offers a wonderful bouquet of spices, wood, caramel and leather. I love this bourbon because I find it to be extremely well balanced, silky smooth with overtones of oak, and Carmel and a long finish. I believe this to be the most balanced bourbon on the market where no overtone of oak or caramel hitting you hard.
It‘s just pure bliss.
Enjoy,
