Black humidity beads

Can anybody tell me why my humidity bead are turning black. I got them viper from 6 months ago.
 
Same thing happened to mine. I think its mold. I threw them out when this happened.
 
Never seen it happen, but it sounds like mold to me. Send viper a PM, he may not notice this thread. I'm sure he can help you out.
 
Search. It happens...Viper I Believe said it was okay (depending on hwo dark they really are)
 
I had 1/2 lb, when I got a bigger wine-o-dor I needed another 1 lb. When I got them I noticed a huge difference in color. The new ones were pure white but my older ones (probably around 1 year) were brown. They are not black like some of you are mentioning. Think the brown is mold too? I mixed them with my new beads so I really hope it is not mold.

give em a sniff. You all know what mold smells like.

Were bags or tubes in direct contact with Spanish cedar? The beads will pick up the color and turn brown. Its harmless.
 
No, they were in a plastic dish. I moved all 1.5lbs to panty hose now. I only use distilled water and spray them.
