So I went to a local BevMo to take a looky and see if I find anything interesting ... as I walk down the aisle I spot lost abbey brews...as I look closer I realize they about 20 angel's share. Wow no one really wants them. They should knock off 75% ....

How much were they asking, Mike?

Damn nice find, good for you, my addy is in my profile brother. ;)

Not a nice find, in case you haven't heard about how bad they are they are undercarbonated, and by undercorbonated I mean flat, and cost more than $25 a bottle, a joke.. LINK

$30 a bottle. I have 2 but not sure it was worth it...considering all the bad reviews. If they drop them to $12-14 a bottle I might get a few more, otherwise I am gonna see how these hold up in a couple of months. maybe I might get a bubble or 2.

For a limited release they are all over the place on the west coast. Kind of says something about what everyone thinks about the beer. One place is selling them for $24.99.

Is the yeast itself dead or did they somehow botch the priming sugar? If the later then I doubt any amount of yeasty stimulation will help if there is nothing to ferment. At $25+ a bottle I'm not sure that it is worth the effort.

edit:punctuation

I wonder if you tried swirling em a little to rouse the yeast and storing them somewhere warm if they'd carb up?

well i've had both bottles in a nice warm place. i plan on openning one in a couple of months and see what happens

I saw a few bottles of this stuff at another local shop the other day asking the same. $30 a bottle is outrageous! I thought it was a lot when they were selling it for $15 a pop at the release party a couple of years back. I still love the Port Brewing Hop15 though.

I have opened 3 bottles and all were completely flat. Based on Tomme's recent comments I wouldn't expect the situation to work itself out. He is now making excuses and saying they purposefully under-carbonated it like a true english barleywine which is laughable since the bourbon barrel aged bottles I have from the previous release were monster CO2 bombs.
