Oh no.
I recently got a VERY, VERY nice cigar in a small purchase form a BOTL. It is in an individual plastic baggie. I was looking at it today, and there is a hole in the cigar, I'd say about 1/8" in diameter. Also, all over the plastic bag (on the inside only), there are hundreds of tiny little balck specks. ANybody know what these could be? Is this incredible cigar ruined?
What should I do withthe other cigars that where in the humidor with it. It was in a plastic baggie...might they be safe?

Defiantly do not put it in your humidor.
Place the cigar (and baggie) in your freezer for a couple of days.
It should be ok to smoke after that.

Just put your finger over the hole and smoke it. A little protein won't hurt ya.

I recently received some cigars from someone that had similar type holes in them, but fortunately I didn't put them in my humidor as I noticed the holes first and they went back for a refund...the 1/8" diameter hole sounds like the exit hole of a beetle that hatched and chewed it's way out...dunno what the black specs are...maybe eggs...maybe someone else here will know...and if the cigar stayed SEALED in the plastic baggie your other stuff might be okay but you may want to look very carefully at the plastic baggie for any signs anything got out...you also might want to provide a picture or two as the guys here are very knowledgable and seeing what you're looking at would be easier...on the off chance you are worried your other smokes have been possibly infected you can freeze them...read a great deal about it when I got the worm-holed smokes...they recommend freezing for three days in an air-tight container, then thawing gradually in a refrigerator before returning them to your humidor...some of the papers on this recommended freezing them twice but fortunately I didn't have to go that route...g'luck, man...

Those black specs are essentially, beatle crap! DO NOT put that in with your other smokes. Put it in a well sealed ziplock, then inside of a sealed tupperware container and stick it in your freezer for a few days, then in the fridge for a day. Hard to say if your others are safe...id do the same process to them just to be on the safe side!

Thanks, everybody. I have inspected ewvery other cigar from that shipment, as well as everything in the umidor that the suspect cigar has been in. No other damage is visible. I will freeze that cigar starting tonihgt. Man, on top of rh, temp, and having enough room to store them and time to smoke them, now I have to start freaking about beetles, too.

AHa! Was just looking at the cigar again, and I see the beetle, crawling on it! Do I kill it, still freeze the cigar, or is it pointless? The rest of the sticks look OK. SHould I throw this incredible stick away, or is it smokeable after freezing?

I was hoping that would be the answer. I would have been pissed if I had to toss it.

Take every cigar that came in that bag and freeze them, once they are out of the freezer( 3 days) keep them seperate from the rest of your collection, forever. Take the one with the hole and throw it out.

You also need to contact the guy who sold you the cigars and tell him the problem and too make good on the one with the hole in it.
