Beer PIF

I think it ends up being short by 5 ozs. Personally I am very happy with the package.

Thats good, thats what matters.

I do think Justin makes a good point and maybe this is a good time to refresh the idea behind this PIF.

First:
Make sure and follow the guidelines and best practices. This includes meeting minimum requirements and also taking the time to package the beers well to make sure they survive the journey.

Second: Do your research and make an effort to send some beers that may not be local to the person you are sending to. This ensures they are getting something special and not just a package of beer they could go out and but themselves.

Third:
have fun, drink beer and be happy!

I was thinking th golden monkey was a bomber, is it a 750 (regardless it's still under)? I respect you not wanting to make it an issue Spivy, but it says very clearly in the rules 88oz MINIMUM.

Blue Moon?? !!! :0

I'm glad to see we've got some new blood joining this thread, as it had gotten to the point where the original participants were all taking a second turn in order to keep it going. It's great to see both new members of CP and established members who are beginning to develop an interest in craft beer checking out this tiny little corner of our online world.

That being said, I do have to agree with both Justin and Jonas here on several points. First, when Justin started the thread, the 88 oz. minimum was clearly stated. If you go back and look through the first few pages of this thread to see what was sent out at the very beginning, you'll see that, in the true spirit of CP, very few (if any) participants even came close to violating that rule. In some cases this requirement was almost doubled. I'm not suggesting that participants are expected to send more than is required, but a "minimum" is just that.

In addition, you really ought to take some time to find out both what the recipient likes and what may or may not be available to him/her in their area. With so many regional breweries across the U.S., many beer lovers simply don't have access to everything that's out there and part of the fun of this is seeing what people are sending from various parts of the country. This is not to say that brews like Sam Adams (just picking a name here, no subliminal indications are being made) and such aren't great beers, but I personally don't think that widely-available beers ought to be sent to someone who could simply go down to their local distributor or liquor store and buy them for him/herself.

Oh yes, and definitely drink beer, have fun, and be happy!

The guys are right but don't let this turn you off or feel like they are coming down hard on you.
They set rules for a reason and I know it makes it fair, so everyone gets a nice box.

This is all meant to be fun and experience other BOTL's beer treasure's from their area, if it wasn't for Philly Mike I wouldn't be so addicted to NN (thanks by the way Mike), Justin introduced me to Bell's or Tim introducing 3Floyds into my line up. This is what makes this pass fun.

And yes cheers, drink and be merry!

By the way where is that second box?

Exactly Mike, I'm not implying anything other than that the box was short. Also, you guys all make good points about trying to ship things that aren't available to the recipient.

By the way where is that second box?

I've been wondering the same thing?

Yeah there was another box. Basically the same rules as he first but instead of requesting what you'd like ... the sender would send a blind variety of beers. This gave the sender a chance to send some of his local favorites and for the receiver to try a different style or beer they would have never considered.

Ouch! I had hard time searching for all the stuff SPIVY asked for. The Chimay set was a gift pack and was a little pricey. I thought I was at or over 88 oz, but it appears to be 82.5oz. I just read through all of this and apologize as I just logged on here. I will get a second box together.

I'm not sure Justin was intending for you to send a second box, just an FYI going forward and for the new comers.

When the box comes around your way next time just pass it forward +1 the next person.

Just curious did he only ask for certain beers? I know all of us have certain beers on our to try list, which is fine to ask for IMO, but you should also give breweries names instead of specific beers and styles of beer in general that you enjoy.

Agreed. No one is asking for anything add'l, and SPIVY seems quite happy with his haul...we're just trying to make sure the playing field is level so fun is there for all involved. Just some helpful hints as to both the letter and the spirit of this thread.

I know I don't get any beer those Cali brothers get to drink   , so I have to settle with Saint Arnold's.. This is a great way to get beer from all those small breweries. Well I am enjoying some Dales Pale Ale, cheers gents. I can't wait to get another round of amazing beer!

ok.

I would like to say that I drank the Victory Golden Monkey with a couple friends and sushi. And it was great. I loved it. Great beer. I will have to try to find some more.

Cheers

My box of beer courtesy of SPIVY is en route but may get caught up at UPS over the weekend (no worries Ed, I'm just anxious to send someone some beer).

I'm already heading to a great store close to me this weekend called John's Grocery and I figured I would get a jump on the PIF.

So, who wants a box-o-beer?

I am sure you will enjoy it.

Edit: Just so everyone knows At about 15lbs it is considerably cheaper to send with UPS then USPS
