This past weekend I cleaned out my fridge, de-frosted the little freezer compartment and cleaned the shelves and re-organized my beers, putting the ones I am gonna drink in the front and the ohers in the back. I also put the heavy AVB's in the freezer part like I always do. Unfortunately I must have turned up the freezer by accident without me knowing .... grrrrr!

So I get home from work and think hmmmm what should I drink tonight? I open my fridge I smell goodnees of intoxicating sweetness, almost like when you open your humidor that first initial smell mmmmmmmm, then I woke up from my trance ... I was like 'Oh crap a bottle broke. Looked every where, and nothing. Then I looked in the freezer part and there was my fallen friend. AleSmith Decadence 2008 ... frozen to the bone with its guts all out in the freezer :( , my Czar 2003 bottle was also frozen but luckly I waxed the cap so no explosion. All the others were fine. Man it was a mess, I had to re-clean. There was a nice syrupy goodness on the bottom tray, that I  tasted and it was pretty good.

Oh well, so a moment of silence for the my fallen friend............................................... thats enough!

OK so question, is my 2003 Czar ruined, because it froze? I heard that when a beer freezes the water seperates from alcohol, is this true?

I don't know if it separates, but it probably won't taste the same in my very limited experience.

I absentmindedly left some Guinness in the car last winter and it froze. Luckily, it didn't explode on me, but it didn't taste right after it thawed. It was thinner and the carbonation was off.

It was frozen solid for about 4 days. I don't know if that matters or not.

I have no experience to know if this will help or not but you might try letting it return to as near room temperature as safely possible after letting it thaw in the fridge. This may help the contents recombine.

Thanks guys I hope so cause I was going to do a 2003, 2007, and 2008 vertical.

And it really never froze solid looked more slushy like when held to the light. Like a Beer Slurpee

You have been banished to beer hell for this...Beer requires loving care which is something you obviously can't handle.

The penalty is you now have to send it all to me...You also pay shipping. I will take proper care of it.

I had a couple beers freeze on my porch waiting for me to get home last winter, and the only one that tasted off was a low alcohol one. Sad news about that Decadence. :(
