I can't believe that Bob Watson thinks this is ok. This is a bit harsh in my opinion, I was watching the game and it looks to me that it just got away from him as he was following through, you must finish the pitch instead of getting hurt trying to stop it.

Plus only one game and fines for others involved? Come on Bobby.

He was a Yankee for short time during his career Sam....that probably explains it.

It's just six games, not 6 starts. He'll miss just one start.

Not harsh for a pitcher, one start isnt bad at all. The last time in Detroit a batter called time on Verlander he threw it way over their heads.

Yea I know it's only one start but it's still seems a little off to me. Somehow I think his wallet will be fine but I think the Sox are going to miss his start with the way they are starting their season.

Franco, that does splain a lot.

What would be the point of suspending him for less than one start?

I may be wrong but it looks on the video like Abreu (head case that he is) called timeout way to late. Beckett was in the middle of delivering the pitch. Beckett may have tried to hold up and just didn't hold on to the ball. In either case, I wish the umpires would stop this crap by letting the pitchers finish off the pitch when timeout is called too late and call the pitch.

Thank you, that is part of the point I am making with this.

Tom I ask you why should he be suspended at all, I would like to see anyone stop that delivery, you would seriously hurt yourself if you tried.

I don't understand how you suspend a guy for something when the umpire that was involved didn't think he even deserved to be ejected from the game. I don't think he was throwing at Abreu. What was his motive? I also think the umpire knew he didn't do it intentionally, that's why there was no ejection. I just think Abreu overreacted causing Beckett to get pissed and then the whole Angel duggout overreacted.

People just hate Beckett because he's cocky. He's a pretty good pitcher and if I were him, I'd be acting cocky too. It comes with the territory. I guess Scioscia has some pull in a certain office
