Bead Tubes Question

So basically these puppies will keep the humidor at the desired RH based on which you purchased with little to no effort?

How often do people usually refill with distilled water, say if you open your humidor to grab a smoke 2-3 times a week? I have a 75-100 count humidor (really holds more like 50-70), the tube version is nice because it's going to help me free up some room for more smokes, which is never a bad thing.

Sorry I'm a little new here, hate to be the newbie on the block

They will do their job with little or no effort. You are correct in that assumption. However the thing to be worried about is how good of a seal your humidor has. If you have a crappy humidor (if, I'm not saying you necessarily do) and the seal is no good, then the beads will not help you out that much.

At most you might have to add some distilled water every other week or so, depending on the outside humidity of where you live. But that's not in your profile so I can't help!

Drop on over to the introduction section of the forum and introduce yourself, and fill out more info in your profile. That way we won't be so scared of you and therefore more eager to help.

I forgot to add, you can tell by the color of the beads whether or not they need water. If they are bright white then they are dry and should be watered. If they are all clear, then they are saturated and need to be dried. Do a search for threads by Viper and you'll get all the answers you need.

Thanks for the help, I bought this humidor about 3-4 years ago, it's been working pretty well, I've been neglecting it so I'm in the process of carefully bringing the humidity back up to steady 65%

seems to have a very good seal to me, got the glass top so I could monitor with a digital hygrometer without actually having the open it.

Been holding steady during my re-humidification over the past 3 weeks, the first week and a half I think the cedar was absorbing everything and now the cigars are starting to look better.

Got my beads yesterday, and its been 24 hrs, so I sneeked a peek this afternoon, and it's up to 63% already! (300 ct humi, RH hasn't been higher than 56%)

Viper's beads are GREAT!!

Ordered a full spread, thanks.

Question though, can you determine the level of hydration by looking at the tubes? i.e. how dried out the tubes are.

Never mind - newbie question

I did a search and found Viper's FAQ on beads.
