Just had some at my mom's place. Damn it was good! She also had soem SUntory whiskey that she really likes but I didn't. The SUntory was very caramelly.

She said ballantine's is known as a woman's scotch cos it's so smooth but I loved it. Like it better than the Talisker I am having right now.

Ballantines is a blend and they are usually smother then a single malt. If you ever get a chance to try some there is a Ballantine's 30 yo that is excptional.

Yes, I saw that on their site. I shudder to think how much it costs!

The 30 yo is made for the Far East market, you sould be able to find it in some of the Korean Duty free shops for about $250. I can find it for $300 if I really want too. If you want a 30 yo blend then the Whyte & Mackay 30 is a good buy for about $170 delivered.

The Cutty Sark 25 yo has won a bunch of awards like the Gold Medal for Blended Whiskey, Whiskey Magazine's "The Best Whiskies in the World" and is around $200 if you want a high end blend that is better known then the Whyte & Mackay.
