dude, is that mold or bloom?

Man looks scary... :0

How old was it by the way?

That's mold..... hope you brushed it off first. maybe he's yanking us around? ???

Looks like mold, tooth, and plume. Brush the mold off and send it to me :-p

mmmmmmmm penicillin. Send that to me, I have a cold.

Definetly NOT mold! Mold would make the cigar smell and taste like shit. This cigar was heaven. This is plume or bloom. Much like a candy coating! By the way, it lasted for 2 1/2 hours.

Wow. I would have sworn that was mold. I was at my local shop and he had boxes upon boxes of AF's and Padrons with that "candy coating" that I argued was mold and he argued was plume. Hmmmm...

In that case, I bet it was 2 1/2 hours of f*cking heaven!

You know, I have a couple anejos that look like that. Mine mostly had the white stuff just under where the cedar was. It didn't bother me, I brushed it off and smoked it anyways. And I must say, it was one of the best cigars I've ever had. Mold or plume, I dunno, but it was damn tasty.

From my understanding, if it brushed off easily it is mold. That, and the fact it appeared under the cedar. Bloom or plume are the result of evaporated oils and would be less likely to occur under the cedar.

That is mold....like Jim said, very common with Anejos....just ask SirSmokesAlot

Sure looks like mold to me... for whatever reason, I've seen that kind of mold on Añejos and other aged maduro wrapper cigars... must be the additional time spend aging at temperature pressed in bales.

Doesn't necessarily make the cigar taste bad, but I'd at least wipe it down before torching it. :)

Good discussion in that CF thread. That's not an original release Anejo I don't think (because it's wrapped in cedar) so it can't be more than, what, 3-4 years old at the most. I'd be very suprised if that were bloom...

Yeah I've yet to see any plume on any of the OR Añejos I've got... not sure if it'll ever develop on that wrapper, but I suppose anything is possible in time.

Having studied mold and bacteria, I would have to give my 2  up for a nice case of mold. Yummy...Penicilin.

I still say that is mold. VERY common on Anejos. Here are some things to peruse:

But hey, you enjoyed the cigar and that's all that matters.

From looking at all of the pictures on that site and in that thread I would have to still say that this is bloom. This is not fuzzy or lumpy and it was very crystal like and in concentrated spots rather than spreading spots. I've seen mold like in the pics but this was different. I have even smoked a cigar with the mold on it and it tastes like ear wax. So I will have to disagree with the majority.

??? Seems unlikely a non-OR Anejo would develop that much plume. In addition, others say they have seen major mold development specifically on Anejos.

But, like I said, mold or plume, if you liked it that's all that matters.

But I still say it was mold. ;) :p
