No big review here because I suck at them. But I have smoked 3 AVO 80ths in the last 2 days and have found them to be fantastic. They have drastically improved since the last time I smoked a few of them when they 1st came out. These were very tasty with some nice complexity to them. They also seemed cool on my tongue. A unique flavor profile that was quite refreshing compared to all of my norms. As I thought before these are definetly going to keep getting better with age.

How much time between the first time you smoked one and now? I've heard they were young when first released. Been wondering if these are worth stocking up on.

I'm not positive but it was when they were 1st released to the stores. Several months or more ago I think. I did not really care for them then.

I'm really looking forward to trying this cigar! We are going to smoke & review it on this next week's show. I've had mine in the humi for about 3 months. My local B&M where I got it also told me they seemed young at first. We'll see this weekend how it smokes!

Hey Alan, how does it compare to the LE5?

Glad to hear that they are getting better with time...my review was less than glowing when I lit the first one up. I really wanted to like it...I did! So I guess I will have to go back and like the second!

Hey Alan, how does it compare to the LE5?

Well, I bought a bunch of LE5s one time and smoked one of them but since they are unbanded I seem to have lost them in all of the rest of the cigars. I can't remember which ones they are. As I remember I did not like the one that I smoked very much, but then I only smoked the one.

I smoked an LE5 not too long after they got released, and liked it alot, wouldn't say I loved it... Yesterday I smoked my first 80th, and in general I am big fan of the Avo's (especially the maduro #9) so my review might be a bit biased. I enjoyed this cigar alot, Mr. Tuck is dead on in the way he described the stick, there is a odd coolness to it I noticed as well, I really dug it alot.

Well now, having just finished my first one, I've got to say "fantastic" is the right word!

This cigar is really amazing! The boys from StogieReview.com joined us on the show and we all 4 smoked the AVO 80th. We all felt it started off with a bang, delivering a nice shot of spice & pepper. The flavors were so complex that we all had a hard time trying to identify them. This is a cigar that really demands your attention as you smoke it. There is so much going on with it that we would find ourselves rolling the smoke around our mouths and forgetting that we we trying to record a show!

Throughout the length of the stick, new flavors would pop in and out. At various times I tasted leather, cedar, almond, cocoa bean and toast, all wrapped up in that wonderful spice that would tone down, then jump back to the forefront.

The cigar exhibited wonderful construction, was firmly filled yet drew easily, and burned well producing volumes of smoke. At about the halfway point I realized it also had a fairly strong nicotine kick that sneaks up on you. Don't smoke this one first thing in the morning! The cigar is full bodied, but never harsh.

My opinion is that this cigar is worth the $$ if your budget can handle it. I will be adding a few more to my humi before they are all gone. ;)

Nice review Dale. Nice that someone could do a nice review on this cigar. I am listening to your show on the AVO 80th right now while I sit here and smoke. I am finding it pretty interesting to here a radio type show devoted to cigars.

I agreed with Dale...as I mentioned in the other AVO 80th thread.

For early smokes,my choice between the 80th and LE05 would be the 80th but I think the LE05 will age longer and still not loose stregnth where the 80th seems to me that it will smooth out alot sooner and maybe get weaker in the profile but stay complex.Who knows,I have some of each tucked away.

I know the feeling of looseing unbanded cigars in the humi,I stay on top of this now. :p

I had the AVO 80th the other night and it just wasn't right. I don't know if it wasn't my kind of cigar or that it wasn't rested enough. I hope it was the second part. I will be sure to try one later just to make sure.

I just happened to see this thread and the reviews. My daughter just sent me an AVO 80th last week, she picked it up in a B&M downtown Boston. I have it resting in the humidor right now, I planned to smoke it next time they come home.

After reading these reviews it will be a little harder keeping my hands off it. :)

Thanks for the preview...
