Avalon Cigars officially began in January 2007, but like most good ideas, it really started way before... Growing up in Mississippi we learned how to play cards, shoot pool, drink whiskey (good and bad) and enjoy the best music in the world. Gaining respect and appreciation for cigars was a part of all that. Some of us worked in the advertising and marketing end of the tobacco industry and others on the production side. As official cigar fanatics and true blues enthusiasts, we decided to intertwine our lifestyles by recognizing what we grew up listening, and smoking, to -- THE BLUES. Our group, which includes Gary Hilton (President/CEO and founder) and Mike Adams (COO and blender), is so motivated it's contagious. Our main goal is to build a company we can be proud of and to recreate for our customers the experiences of our past. Pouring a great deal of time (and money) into our blends has produced a solid portfolio of wonderful smokes that are as rich in tradition as the Mississippi Delta soil. Our cigars are conceived and tested in our Miami facilities. We then spend months tweaking, aging, sampling and sampling some more (we really like that part) until we zone in on the profile that fits each stick best. Then we reproduce the Nicaraguan lines in Esteli in small batches. Once we are convinced the smokes are consistent, we crank up production and let the cigars age in Spanish cedar. Some of them are aged alongside other concoctions. What you have to understand is that cigars are like music. There are only so many notes and only so many tobaccos, but the combinations are limitless. The smallest amount of additional ligero can be the difference in a good cigar and a great one. It all starts with the leaf... and ends in the experience!

P.S. Don't Forget, "Rock The Democracy Smoke Out", nationwide 9/26/09!

I had the pleasure of having a few drinks with the owners of Avalon at Casa Fuente after last years RTDA show in Vegas. Nice guys and good smokes.
