I recently upgraded to a new cabinet humidor, and chose the Avallo Accumonitor. Having used this humidification unit with my antique tower, I knew this would be the right choice.

I decided to post a new review, since this is the latest model.

Check out the review here: http://www.cigarpass.com/reviews/83-avallo-accumonitor-review.html

Very nice Review. I am loving my Avallo Accumonitor. How ever I didn't relize it will flash if it is low on water. I guees i have yet to have it get low.

New cabinet looks great! I like the lights. Please share some pics of the entire thing once its filled up with the lights on.

Will do Paul. I'm working on a review of the cabinet. Stay tuned...

Thanks for the review Rod. I've been kicking around the idea of upgrading to an Accumonitor. With all of the glowing reviews, I think I know what I'm asking for this Fathers Day.

You won't be disappointed, that's for sure!

Rod, what do you suggest as far as beads (for over humidification issues). I think I remember you saying you liked a little drier cigars. How do you set your beads up, relative to your humidifier, when they are a higher rated RH than you like your sticks.....? How does that work for you?

I prefer 65% RH or so. If you go about 70%, you're getting close to the danger zone for mold. You might want to try experimenting and seeing which RH works best for you.

I guess I wasn't real clear about what I was asking. I like my sticks about 66.5 RH. But, beads are rated higher and lower. Is there a conflict trying to maintain humidity with mismatched beads? It would seem If I used 65% Beads and set the Avallo to 66.5 there would be a conflict. Just wondering what I can expect. Will the Avallo run more because the beads are sucking up the Humidity. Or if I used the higher rated beads, will the beads try to maintain 70% when I want 66.5%. Just asking.

OK, bottom line.... is it better to use a higher rated bead or a lower rated bead when humidifying to a level where there are no exact match beads available?

Thanks

Steve

Edited to add question.

Steve why not just use the Avallo and forget the beads. I have the Avallo system and keep it set at 65% and it stays dead on 65% with no issues. You can set your humidity in whole numbers (65,66,67...) getting to 66.5% would probably be a task. Can you really see a diffrence in the .5%?

The Avallo will keep my RH at 66-67 but I am wanting to use beads to keep incidental RH spikes to a minimum due to our stiffling humidity that occours in the midwest in the summer months. That's not being too anal is it?

For overhumidification, I threw in some beads.... but it sometimes still got overhumidified. So I asked Ron, and he recommended a rechargeable "dry canister" that they use to keep gun safes dry, etc.. they have color indicator in their "beads" that turn blue when the beads have absorbed moisture.. When they are full, you throw the whole can in the oven to dry them out.. then they are ready to re-use again. They work well..

What humidity do they regulate to?
