I started this new thread so more of you would notice it.
I am now convinced that Davidoff is fully aware of the fact that they are sending out mold contaminated cigars. Upon closer inspection of the cigar that they sent me, it is quite obvious that someone at Davidoff attemted a mold-ectomy on my cigar. This is outragous. I could have contaminated my entire collection, which by the way is extensive. The foot, which shows small amounts of mold has a 7cm x 4cm gouge where someone obviously attemted to remove the mold. I assure you that they will hear from me. I am told that I have an acrid writting style, well the PH of my letter will be off the scale. Beware, if you ordered one of their promotional cigars it is probably contaminated.

Doc.

thanks for letting us know...

I ordered one of these PROMO cigars...

I have a feeling that they are using this PROMO gig to purposely get rid of their f'd up cigars.

I will thoroughly inspect mine when I get it.

Thanks for the heads up Doc!

I have one on order also, Let us know if you get a reply from them.

I don't own a digital camera. I still use a Nikon F :whistling: And I just got done burning the evidence. There was a slight musty backround taste for the first inch or so of the cigar. There is however no doubt in my mind that this cigar was operated om. Davidoff, in my experiance, are some of the most meticulously constructed cigars I have ever smoked. They just don't have gouged sloppy looking feet. Besides there was mold and others on other BB's have reported such.

agreed, mine had some green adn white mold o the foot of the cigar. this baby will not come within 10' of the humi. gonna burn it tomorrow night. i will ty to post a pic tomorrow for you guys. i made the mistake of srapping off some of the culprit.

I checked mine (received yesterday) and it looks fine. Just in case though, I will put it out of it's misery tomorrow.

sweet...my baby bro just grabbed one from fleabay, nice piece of equipment, and bulit like a tank!. let me know if you ever want to get rid of it sir.

I wonder why a firm with their reputation would risk this kind of publicity by promoting substandard sticks. If I note any evidence of mold, I'll forward pictures to them. I suggest others consider this also.

I got mine yesterday... I have never had a cigar with a beetle, so I am not sure what this little hole is. I don't have a digital camera, but I scanned it. The scan did an ok job, any opinions? The hole is about 1" from the foot.

I didn't put it in mu humi, so I am safe there. Smokable? What does beetle / egg taste like? :)

I don't know what they taste like, but I understand they pop when you cook them.

If this was intentional, I don't know what they could have been thinking. They have to know how small the cigar smoking community is and that word would get around that half the cigars they sent out were moldy.

Its not a beetle hole. With beetles... think round holes with lil scraps of loose tobacco. I had to point some out to one of my local B&M shops lately.

Mine arrived last week and fortunately didn't show any signs of mold. But I too have read many reports of this on multiple BBs. I mentioned this to one of the guys at the local TB .. He said they've never had that with any Zino but do have some in the tubes now showing bloom. Weird stuff.

I haven't received mine yet, but will check it carefully.

Is there a way to remove the mold so it doesn't get to my other cigars? I kind of wanted to save this one for a bit as I normally don't get to smoke cigars in this price range often, but I don't want to ruin my collection.

If it is only on the foot could the first inch or so be cut off? Can the mold on the surface be removed?

I've never had a mold problem and I don't want one.

I can't believe a supposedly reputable company would send out subpar merchandise like this. If this was an intentional "dumping" we should go after them with both barrels!

:angry2:

Is it just the Zino promotionals, or are there regular stock Davidoffs out there with these problems?
