Sparked up a VSG Robusto last night and was very impressed. I should say that this was my 4th try with the VSGs, never having been overly impressed before. My previous experiences have also been good, but have left me with the feeling that these may be a bit overrated. Its not that I felt the VSGs were bad or disappointing, just that for the price and hype, something was lacking. Anyway, I kept at these after enouragement from the group and others. The Robusto I had last night has been sleeping peacfully in my humidor for 4 months; all the other VSGs I've smoked had no time to rest. Not sure if that was the reason for the difference, or if its the size I liked (the others I have tried were the Tres Mystique, Torpedo, Spellbound, and Belicoso No. 1).

The Robusto (5.5 x 50) was very good. Sparked right up, burned very cleanly all the way down. easy draw. Lots of smoke. Really pleasent flavor, slightly sweet, very earthy, really nice long finish. A little floral on the exhale. Stick held its own all the way down. Very enjoyable and satisfying smoke. Good punch but not overbearing. Still don't know about the price:value relationship, but I'll definatley smoke a few more of these. Can envision that these might be nice when somehting heavier is not on the menu.

Anyone have any experience with the Enchantment (4.37 x 60)? Is that a Short Story mold?

Nice review. I really like this line, especially the Enchantment:

I've had the Enchantment. Its bigger than a SS or a best seller. Very fat. I didn't think it burned very well, perhaps because of the funky shape. I do like the VSGs though.

I've got a couple in my humidor thanks to psyktek  Can't wait till I get to burn one

yeah VSG are over hyped dog rockets. mail all your yucky VSG's to me ;)
VSG's are one of my fav go to cigars, I ususally smoke the biger sized ones like the sorc

I really enjoy the VSGs. Not too long ago, I finally got my hands on some Opus sticks. I've had one so far, and it was a very good cigar. I don't think anything could match the hype, but it was definitely a cigar that's on the top of my list. But, considering the difficulty in finding a stick that's anywhere near MSRP -- when they're even in stock -- I'm not sure its worth the effort or expense. It was definitely worth trying, but what I like about the VSGs is that not only have I found them to be consistently good smokes, but while they're not ubiquitous, they are fairly easy to find. And, the price is fairly reasonable.

The robusto is my favorite VSG. They're especially good with a year or so in the humi.
