I know the Ashton Majesty has a different filler blend than every other cigar in that line. I've heard that it's the same blend as the VSG but with a Connecticut Shade wrapper of course and was wondering if anyone knew if this was true or not.

Yup, as others have confirmed, Jared, our sales rep, said the same thing.

Do these have the same white band as their main line of cigars? I was at my B&M last week having a smoke and talking to some guy and come to find out he's an Ashton rep. He handed me a big cigar with the usual Ashton white band but he said it had the VSG blend with a Connecticut wrapper. He said they were wanting to expand the ring guage on the regular line and boy did they ever. This thing was about 6.5in by a 54 or 56 ring. I just smoked it today and really enjoyed it. It had some similarities to the usual Ashton line which I find to be very mild. This one though was richer and had more depth to it. I really enjoyed it, all 2.5 hours of it. Is this the same thing you are referencing Devonn?

Same thing he's talking about. Larger smoke, white label, Connecticut wrapper...

Hell of a smoke!

Since this was gifted to me, would you happen to know the price point Jake? I really enjoyed it and am thinking they would be good to have on hand for people that aren't regular cigar smokers and get overpowered by most of what I have in my collection.

Like Jake said, that's the one Clint. I'm not sure about the price point as the one I have was gifted to me. I believe in my area they're in the $8-$9 range.

On average, they run about $8.50, though I believe the MSRP suggested by Ashton is in the $8.75 - $9.25 range. It's a pretty good deal for what you get.

How come they don't advertise it as such...using VSG fillers? All the ads I came across just mention that it's a Classic Ashton blend with "a little kick"....or a "heavier blend"....or "not your typical Ashton."

The one that made me laugh was the Sathya Levin (Holt's/Ashton owners son) quote about the pepper and spice qualities, it "gives it a zing through the nostrils."

Why is the use of the VSG blend in this cigar an 'inside' thing and not a public thing? Jake, if you remember, ask your rep that next time you talk to him.

I wondered the same thing. I think I found the same link you did from CA which says that the filler is a different blend from the rest of the Classic line, but doesn't go into much more detail.

I just had a Majesty last night for the first time and loved it. I am not usually an Ashton Classic smoker, but the Majesty is a great smoke. It definitely has more body that a Classic, but I don't know about it being a VSG with a Conn wrapper. I don't think so. Doesn't have enough body to it.

I'm not a big fan of any Ashton's other than the VSG and ESG and on occasion the aged maduros. I'm also not a huge fan of Conn. wrappers, but I really want to give this a try now cause I loves me some VSG's! I've heard of more than one Ashton rep. making this claim, you should see what yours says. Not to spark the old "wrapper flavor" debate but, I imagine the wrapper makes a huge difference with the VSG's.

Indeed it does, DeVonn. I highly recommend you try this cigar. You will be quite surprised. I think you should be the judge on whether it's a VSG binder and filler. I know it's a different blend than the rest, since that's what my rep told me last night at our Ashton dinner. But you be the judge on whether it's a VSG filler. Either way, I think you'll really enjoy this smoke.

This does sound like one to try. I'm not a huge Connie fan either, but something that combines the smoothness of the Classic with the depth/body of the VSG should be a keeper. I haven't even seen these marketed before.
